Can any Jay Z fans come in here and explain to me why he’s the goat?

Jay played the game right

1. Created his own label with help from Dame and Biggs

2. Released an album every year from 1996-2003.

3. Diversified his business portfolio outside of rap and is highly successful

4. Laid low and didn’t crash out after he stabbed Un.

5. Took his loss to Nas like a man and came back better. Drake should have took notes from when Jay released BP2.

6. He didn’t hate on the South.

Gave UGK a lifeline with Big Pimpin and had cats in the east checking for their stuff.

One of the only NY artists to collab with both No Limit & Cash Money.

Signed Rick Ross and Jeezy to Def Jam
I keep telling people…Jay Z was like 5-10 years older than his rap peers. EVERYONE forgets this.

I don’t get this at all, somebody break this down for me :why:
Success + lyrical ability + classic album + hip hop's first billionaire = Greatest rapper of all time. No room for debate. It doesn't mean he's the best rapper of all time but greatness extends beyond just pure rap skill.

It's not my opinion that he was the first rapper to turn his success into becoming a billionaire.

Like I said doesn't make him the best rapper but greatness extends past just pure talent. You don't need to be my favorite rapper to be the greatest to ever do it. Personally Nas is my favorite.

Jay-Z is not the GOAT rapper, hes the best rapper in the same way Mayweather is the best boxer.
Jay-Z and Mayweather built their careers around maximizing profits and eliminating risk.
From a fan standpoint, risk = entertainment so they can never put Jay-Z in the GOAT category because he's boring and predictable.

This was actually well-said.

Jay is in the convo tho.hes in my top 5 and in terms of modern history, I'd say top 2.
