Some of y'all may disagree, but Cam should have never made the first statement. I swear these guys need better PR, not PR people that want to put a rainbow on everything, but PR people that can adapt to your personality and teach you how to play chess.
This is a business, and Cam's first statement was more about 'feelings' when it should have been 100% strategic. His actions over the course of his career leading to this point have progressed the discussion about race in sports than his words can at this point. Where discussions about race, athletic dominance and the coveted QB position are concerned, Cam may be 'well-spoken', however he's not yet mature enough to fully 'articulate' a stance, there's a difference. Also as he gets older, he'll realize that black QBs are not a monolith and are as diverse a group of individuals as white QBs.
All he had to do was [with a level of fake modesty] compare himself to his 'buddy' Tebow, with the mobility and TD celebrations and how Denver did a good job utilizing him () and completely flip the script on them cats. Create dichotomy, let the talking heads do the dirty work and I swear we end up in the same discussion about race and sports and the QB position and how important Cam's season has been.
He been saying that since his first playoff season
I think he knows that black people are not a monolith. Which is the point he was trying to make. He just as you said couldn't articulate it quite fully. So on that front I get what you're saying.
Hey, its only been 2 black QBs to win Super Bowls. So we really can't be distracted, even if we are a tad disappointed.
So its still about the Panthers winning this Super Bowl![]()

nah we cant be mad at kill tha godand the coli turns on him...
Wow this is pretty disappointing. He is running away from being a "black qb". No other way to explain this. I agree with SAS in that we know that his first comments were the real ones, but that's still a pretty bad comment to make imo.
Bullshyt. He knew exactly what he said the first time.Didn't interpret it as him running from being a black QB, but getting tired of the seperation that exists whenever defining the position of quarterback. He just wants to be a quarterback that happens to be black, rather than a black quarterback with specific expectations (scrambler, strong arm but inaccurate, one read, other bullshyt stereotypes)
Well if this is the case then he shouldn't of spoken out in the first place. He should've just shut the fukk smiled and kept dancing. That's exactly what whites want him to do. Whites just want him to be a fun-loving entertainer that's always politically correct. Ala Mike, Lebron, ect. If that's all he wants then should've just kept his mouth shut from the door.If we're looking for Cam to be some quasi civil rights leader for the NFL and stick to his guns despite heavy backlash we got the wrong guy. That's not what he's about. Dudes a fun loving entertainer that'll occasionally say something profound but for the most part just wants to have fun and I'm ok with that
