And in terms of ranking Cam Newton's first two years against what's happened in the past, it makes more sense to rank it against what's going on in the league now. We're in a league where the rookie passing yard record has been broken for two straight seasons. Wilson is about to break the rookie pass TD record if he can throw two today.

You got multiple young QBs doing things that have never been done before because that's how the game is now. Even so Marino probably had the best first two years off the strength of him dropping 5,000 yards and 48 TDs in his first full year.
:ehh: Touche. It's crazy how things have changed. Growing up a QB had a good 3,4 years to find himself. Now you got the likes of Gabbert (rightfully) and Jake Locker being labeled busts in their first two seasons.

Man Rodgers, Brees, Manning and Brady have gassed the hell out of these fans. Sorry that dukes dont throw 40 times a game to 2 elite receivers (Harrison + Wayne, Jennings + Driver, Colston + Graham, etc) and put up numbers of 4500YDS, 45TDs and 5 INTs....I said phenomenal, didnt say divine :merchant:.

This whole "elite", not "elite" shh needs to end.

Andy Dalton went from 20td -13int(which is phenomenal for a rookie qb) to 26td -16int his 2nd year. I mean shh what more do you need when you talking about the progression of a quarterback? +7 to +10 ratio.

Cam is the same way. He's cut-down on his interceptions. :manny:

Cam's personality overshadows his play. If he gets the character issues, perception worked out ala Michael Vick, he's going to be a force. He has all the tools.

I agree. We are able to see quarterbacks full arsenal from day 1. That's why I think Andrew Luck is trash. :pachaha:..

His rushing numbers combined with his passing stats aren't enough to push him to phenomenal.

I like Newton and have since he was at Auburn but come on be serious.

Andy Dalton has a QB second year rating of 87.0 has he been phenomenal too?

Breh, it's a FACT that he is having the best 2 first seasons statistically EVER for a QB. What are you disuputing? :wtf:

its an old defense too they cant stay healthy either

its gonna take 1-2 good draft classes imo before they are really competing at the level they should be(9-11 wins a year)

i dont know nothing about they money but if they could now would be primetime to get gamechanging FA on D

i think they have the highest paid dt or de in the league

in fairness, if Luck and RG3 stay healthy next season, and have seasons about where they are this year, they will both surpass Cam's first two season numbers.

No.

You're telling me that Dan Marino first two years (27 total starts) putting up:
~7300 yards, 70 total TDs and 23 INTs is less impressive than what Newton has done through 31 games? Dude threw for more TDs in his 2nd year than Newton has in his career.

If Luck throws the same amount of interceptions will he get criticism? I don't see them making the playoffs next year with the same play.

there is no chance they make the playoffs next season if Luck plays the same. shyt, if Luck plays better they may still not make the playoffs unless their are improvements to that OLine and defense. The tougher schedule and playing the NFC West.

But yeah, if he has another high turnover season he better be criticized, but I doubt it because Luck isnt a media personality or black.

FTR, I expect Luck to improve a lot next season.

Luck will post better numbers next year. His skills will improve, his rookie targets (Fleener/Allen/Hilton/Brazill) will improve or get upgraded and Arians will get hired as a headcoach. No more of that Mike Martz 2011 Bears impersonation he's doing right now.
