Cam is already an elite QB

he just needs an average defense and a reliable run game

Deangelo Williams AND J Stewart are overrated as an outside fan looking in

i dont know if it has to do with the Line or with their own ability, but they have never impressed me foreal

DeAngelo has shown he can work in a traditional system. And I think Stewart has the tools but this 2RB thing they got going on is played out. I dont know why they drafted Stewart in the first place. :yeshrug:

7 more interceptions and he's the next Peyton Manning :deadmanny:

What does Andrew Luck have to do with anything I said?

Luck's stats are not phenomenal and neither are Cam's. Suggesting Newtons numbers are, like this thread does, is ridiculous.

Imagine if I made a thread titled: Carson Palmer has still had a statistically phenomenal year. Or with Joe Flacco.

3600 passing yards, 19 TD 11 INT on 58.4% completion is statistically phenomenal?

:what:

For a second year QB Rating of 88. Yes.

I actually expected more of a sophomore slump.

I guess we oughtta ignore the 8 rushing tds and 700 yards. Those count too whether you like it or not. It's plain to see that Cam and Steve are that whole offense.

the Colts actually had one of the easiest SOS in the NFL.

the Panthers had one of the hardest SOS in the NFL this year

2012 NFL Playoff Standings - National Football League - ESPN

nikkas stay talking out of their asses.

I remember looking at the Colts schedule a couple weeks ago, first thing I thought was, ":leon: this sched was easy as hell"

Luck got to play Jacksonville and Tennessee twice this year.

Cam went against ATL twice, two harder division opponents, the Bears, Denver, NYG when they were still a threat, Washington, Cows, and Seahawks but they had an easy schedule

:rudy:

The AFC is trash

I have a hard-on for shhting on Luck. Naw I agree. These numbers are pedestrian, but Cam has cut down on interceptions which is what you look for going into a second year :manny:

His rushing numbers combined with his passing stats aren't enough to push him to phenomenal.

I like Newton and have since he was at Auburn but come on be serious.

Andy Dalton has a QB second year rating of 87.0 has he been phenomenal too?

Cam Newton Best Quarterback Start | NFL History | SportsGrid

Newton enters Sunday with the following career statistics: 574-for-969 passing (59.2 percent), 7,672 yards, 40 touchdowns, 28 interceptions; 246 rushes for 1413 yards (5.7 per carry) and 22 more touchdowns. Newton’s 8,584 net yards — including 70 sacks taken for 501 lost yards — the Panthers star has an exactly 800 yard lead on Peyton Manning’s old 7,784 net yardage mark, the previous best for any quarterback in his first two seasons. Newton still has one game left.

Newton’s 7.9 yards per attempt ranks fourth (Ben Roethlisberger, Dan Marino, Mark Rypien). His 62 total touchdowns ranks second (Marino). Newton’s only major category away from the top: a 2.8 percent intereception rate, still 16th of the 78 quarterbacks since 1933 to start at least 20 games in their first two seasons. Only Andy Dalton attempted more passes than Newton of those above him on the list.

Looking deeper, Newton has compiled 244.2 EPA and 5.04 WPA. In the Advanced NFL Stats era — dating back to 2000 — only Aaron Rodgers has more EPA in his first two years as a full-time starter (at least 10 games started)…

Newton’s 5.04 WPA ranks fifth, behind Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Tony Romo and Daunte Culpepper…

My only problem with Cam is this

If he takes the next step personally meaning maturity then there is no doubt in my mind the guy is going to be in the playoffs and continue to excel.

Andy Dalton throws 35+ times a game and has Marvin Lewis, AJ Green and Jermaine Gresham :bryan:

That being said, he's had a great year too

Yes and it is almost criminal that he isn't getting the proper recognition. What him and A.J. Green are doing is better than Stafford and Megatron. Yeah I said it.

Man Rodgers, Brees, Manning and Brady have gassed the hell out of these fans. Sorry that dukes dont throw 40 times a game to 2 elite receivers (Harrison + Wayne, Jennings + Driver, Colston + Graham, etc) and put up numbers of 4500YDS, 45TDs and 5 INTs....I said phenomenal, didnt say divine :merchant:.

And in terms of ranking Cam Newton's first two years against what's happened in the past, it makes more sense to rank it against what's going on in the league now. We're in a league where the rookie passing yard record has been broken for two straight seasons. Wilson is about to break the rookie pass TD record if he can throw two today.

You got multiple young QBs doing things that have never been done before because that's how the game is now. Even so Marino probably had the best first two years off the strength of him dropping 5,000 yards and 48 TDs in his first full year.
