As I recall, in HS (early 2000’s in Atlanta) you could rock Du-rags before and AFTER school. Not to class. We’d rock em on the bus to school, take them off and put then either in the locker or book bag, and then put them back on when school was out. It wasn’t a big deal.

Du-rahs really became a fashion during this time, we’d have different color du-rags for different outfits lol. nikkas would rock durags RELIGIOUSLY during the weekends, you only rocked your waves if you were out with a girl or at church.

There is ZERO gang affiliation with fukking Durags. Like everything, black americans took a simple item and made it a popular form of fashion, just like White Tee’s. I support the kids fighting against the rocking of durags as a gang affiliation because thats simply racist as fukk. All the administration has to do is say “no head coverings PERIOD and problem solved. But they always wanna go the extra mile and put a little extra racist sauce on some shyt that has to do with black subculture.

I'm from NYC, a place known for and notorious for durag rocking, and they NEVER allowed that shyt in classrooms. Not even the mostly and all Black classrooms.

I'm saying shyt is wild to me. They didn't let white kids wear baseball hats or beanies, etc.

The whole point of a durag is to make sure your hair looks right (keep that moisture) when you go out. I would THINK that a teenager wants to look their best when they go to school and see their friends and all the girls they wanna flirt with. I've never once heard of simply wearing a durag to mean "gang". People sound like they get their idea of black criminals from Walker: Texas Ranger. If they said "we're banning bandanas hanging out of pockets" I would completely understand.

Couldn't wear any head wear when I was in high school. I got my Magic hat taken by a security guard once. He let me get it back after school. He had that shyt and the homie hat in his car though so if I didn't catch him when I did it'd be gone. Homie never got his hat back. The first high school I went to didn't allow white ts or big earrings on males either. If you gave up your earrings, they'd get tossed on the roof. You couldn't even get in the front doors in a white t. Even if you were wearing a jacket over it. You'd get sent home.

That's brazy. Back when I was in high school, you couldn't wear hats, hoodies let alone a durag in school at all. It was outside of dress code so when did these schools start allowing durags?
