Troy is the fall guy for the owner. Troy didn't want Montey. The owner Gorres did.

Troy ain't a bad GM. He has picked talent in the draft. His only miss was Killian Hayes. The problem is the pieces don't fit.

He also messed up by not trading Brogan last year. We would have gotten more in return last year.

Are you out of your mind breh...

We are in year four of his tenure and worse than ever, and with no light in the tunnel. Drafting isn't his only job. The roster was absolute nonsense. They played like 27 different players this season...and just kept losing.

He wasn’t a good GM. The role requires more than being just a scout. He kept drafting BPA regardless of fit. Repeatedly missed on reclamation projects (Wiseman, Bagley, Josh Jackson, Knox). Held onto Boggy, Burks, Grant too long. Too many players that can play defense and not shoot and shooters who cannot play defense. Cade, Ivey, Ausar all suffered last year because of ill roster fits.

This. And who wants this job? Who do we want to get this job? I say keep him. Monty didn’t have a chance to coach an nba roster in Detroit. He did in Phoenix. All of these guys need talent to succeed.

The job ain't really that bad....they do have a bunch of (potentially) talented high draft picks....now the verdict is still out on most of them, but there's defintely something to work with for a coach who is good at development. Kenny Atkinson would be a good fit but I know he's been heavily linked to the Cavs gig which is more appealling job.

As long as they don't do some dumb shyt like throw a bag at Tobias Harris, I don't think their outlook is that bleak.

They have to spend that cap space on someone and the FA class is bear. Unless they do it at a younger player that could potentially fit the roster long term, but even that isn’t out there.

I still say that they should start calling teams who might be looking to duck the 2nd tax apron and go from there.

I don't understand why they are going after Pelicans front office guys. When you're a bad organization like Detroit. You go after guys who understand a winning culture. Guys who understand how to win. Dallas, Denver, Miami, Boston, and im sure a few other teams. Now I'm reading that they are going after MIchael blackstone- Pistons In Serious Talks To Hire Pelicans' Michael Blackstone As No. 2 Decision-Maker

I’ll be more clear. There’s only so many HC positions in the league so, yes, the job will get fillled. The issue is we suck and we knew we would but the HC got fired after 1 year. Assuming the position comes available.

If I’m a respectable HC, I want the same deal as Monty.

If I’m an up and comer, this is the last position I’ll accept, but if I strike out on everything else ill accept it.

Maybe we get lucky scraping the bottom of the barrel. Who knows

say we run it back with Monty for one more year. Maybe the moves our new GM makes this offseason makes the job coveted next season.

People hire people they’re comfortable with. My industry is a lot like the sports industry.

If I never worked with a guy but I heard good things about him, I’m probably going to lean on the guy I’m familiar with but hiring someone with a proven track record is still a possibility.

Usually my job security and safety is tied to the people I bring on, so feeling comfortable with a maybe is hard.

In their defense, they did try and go after the Bucks GM, but they blocked him from interviewing.

You're also going to be hard pressed to get some of them to leave the job security of their current roles and winning culture to go to an organization with shytty culture without bumping the pay and title.
