:yeshrug: I'm gonna have to take back some of the harshness I had in this thread. I just assumed that Marvel was creating a brand-new c00n character to be a Captain America. I found out that it's actually Falcon taking over as Cap.

They already let Winter Soldier temporarily take over as Cap, it ain't gonna be a big deal if they allow Falcon temporarily take over as Cap.

Captain America Gets His Wings in Marvel's 'Fear Him'

Marvel rocked the comic book world today by announcing that Steve Rogers will quit his Captain America duties and be replaced by long-time friend Sam Wilson, A.K.A. the Falcon.

A de-powered Steve Rogers passes the shield to Sam in Captain America #25, which sets up a new ongoing series beginning this October entitled All-New Captain America. Bridging the gap between the end of the current series and the start of the new series is a six-chapter, digital-only Marvel Infinite Comic: All-New Captain America: Fear Him.

Many Marvel characters have worn the stars and stripes besides the now-powerless Steve Rogers, but Dennis Hopeless, writer of All-New Captain America: Fear Him, believes that the Sam Wilson incarnation will be different from previous Captain Americas.

"Falcon has been Steve Roger's partner for years, so it seems a natural fit," said Hopeless. "Sam and Steve are peers, so you have a guy taking over for his friend."

One of the ways that Hopeless plans to define the new Captain America is by making use of the character's unique powers. Sam Wilson isn't a super-soldier, but he can fly using a winged harness and communicate with birds. In fact, Sam Wilson's abilities helped Hopeless select the hero's opposition.

All-New Captain America: Fear Him's big bad is a slightly altered version of Scarecrow, a villain who executes his plans with an army of fear-crazed crows.

"One of Sam's powers is to see through the mind of bird, so that's the reason why we picked Scarecrow," said Hopeless. "It's a darkly psychological story."

As an Infinite Comic, All-New Captain America: Fear Him is powered by Comixology's Guided View technology that gives stories a cinematic, panel-to-panel flow. You can purchase it this October via Comixology's Comics app or Marvel's Marvel Comics app.

In other Marvel news, the company is offering one month of Marvel Unlimited for $0.99. The deal runs until July 29 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and provides access to over 15,000 digital comics. After the first month, subscription prices return to $9.99 per month. For more, check out PCMag's review of Marvel Unlimited for iPad and Android.
