But Sarah Bond said all ABK games will be coming to gamepass :lupe:
If they don’t put Call of Duty on Game Pass after effectively promising it all hell will break lose.
it’s really sad to see what has become of Xbox. It’s pretty much dead now. What remains is just going to be Microsoft Gaming a third party publisher that makes PC, PlayStation, Mobile, and Nintendo games.
If there is internal debate about this the Game Pass is dead. Just them having the debate is an admission that the model isn’t working for them anymore.

This is what happens when your parent company gobbles up a gaming company 4x’s the size of your own gaming division. Someone said before the activision merger went down that ABK would be running Xbox soon and thats whats going to happen.

If you look at xbox’s financial you would think it was ABK that bought Xbox. My prediction is Phil is out by the end of the year, and they slowly start replacing the xbox management team with ABK’s.

Microsoft probably got one look at the revenue a “bad” call of duty made (MW3) and looked at the rest of the gaming division earnings and made the call.

And yeah, they’d be stupid to put their number one revenue generator into a dying subscription service in order to boost subs. It would be as short sighted as making COD exclusive to save xbox console sales. They spent too much money on COD to devalue it now. They put themselves in between a rock and a hard plaace

They need to just rip the band aid off asap with this whole cod gamepass thing.

Xbox as a division wasn’t smaller than Activision Blizzard so where you getting 4x from? The head of Activision Blizzard is gone. Spencer and Booty are allegedly in charge but Microsoft’s CEO seems to have moved on from Xbox hardware and those two aren’t going to override the company CEO.

If anything Xbox hardware is dying more than Game Pass. The subscription service can only go as far as the hardware will allow because they were never able to untether it from the hardware. They currently have way more Game Pass subs than they have Xbox Series consoles on the market so they’ve maximized the addressable market.

Either way if they aren’t putting CoD on Game Pass they should just end Xbox as a brand and shut down Game Pass because that’s going to kill all the remaining consumer confidence in both. Hell they should have done that when they started porting Xbox exclusive games to PlayStation and Switch. The consumer at that point is waiting for them to do the inevitable. Doing that was a fatal wound to the brand that’s rotting it out from the inside.

They need to decide on a cohesive strategy and execute it right away. It's like there's a power struggle between 2-3 different people and they all have execution power for the business. They're doing totally illogical things like saying hardware is expected to continue to decline in earnings reports while Sarah Bond is out there talking up the next Xbox. Nadella is out there talking up their success on PlayStation and how their games are "finally" on other platforms while Spencer is out there saying it's only going to be those 4 games and talking down other games people expect. We got Matt Booty out here saying we need more games like HiFi Rush while they lay off the team that made it.

It's clear why Xbox is failing. Nadella aside they need to fire everyone else involved and either start from scratch or just become a third party developer. I don't get how they don't understand they're destroying consumer confidence in their brand with all this double talk and contradictory moves. This collapse will rival SEGA's.

Not only are they much bigger than all of zenimax and xbox game studios in size, they are the only game division now bringing in all of their revenue. The actual XBoX division without ABK is making nothing, or in the red as of now. Activision is a far more efficient and profitable gaming company than xbox game studios.

How does that song go, big bank take little bank?

Microsoft's gaming division was bringing in more revenue than Activision Blizzard pre merger. Activision Blizzard was not in the top 3 gaming companies by revenue and Microsoft was.

It’s better to use the impact of ABK’s revenue post merger because there’s a direct line of comparison by Microsoft themselves
