People really should work in the industry just for a month to see what it’s like. I would never fukk with someone’s food or any of that foul shyt. Especially based off race or before I even know them.

BUT if you don’t tip anything, you are a piece of shyt. Flat out. If you can’t leave me anything, it’s personal. Getting shytty tips isn’t a good feeling, but it happens. It’s expected. But leaving nothing at all?? And next time you come in, I will spill a drink on you and make sure you have the worst experience so you never come back. Y’all in here acting like people aren’t gonna remember how you treat them why would someone waste their time serving you for free when it’s another table gonna leave them a 30% tip.

And yes, the concept of tipping is completely flawed, but if it was a normal wage, y’all wouldnt have these good servers and bartenders out here getting you your picky order running to death for you. You’d have unenthusiastic drive thru workers bringing you shyt and not getting ya refills. It works both ways.

Depending on the state, tipped workers get paid as little as $2.13 an hour by the restaurant, bar, nightclub, hotel, etc. where they work.

They depend on tips to get that hourly wage up to something that can put gas in their car and a roof over their head.

Naw, if you work as a server or are in the restaurant industry you’d know which types of people give you a shytty tip. Being a server you can almost feel when you’re gonna get a shytty tip regardless of what you do. Some people will literally go to a restaurant, get good service yet still bytch and complain knowing they’re about to get their meal comp’ed.

This is what I was gonna ask...it seems like you can sense which ones are lousy tippers based on thier attitude or behavior? Is this true? I would assume young folks, white trash and hood boogers would be the worst. Anyone mostly outgoing and engaging to the waiter I would sssume would be good tippers. Also, how does the color of the waiter affect the tip in your opinion?

People work jobs they hate all the time. Sometimes due to their own poor life choices. Other times because it's the only work available given their level of ability. Other times because they need a source of income to keep a roof over their head while they're in school or other career training.

I posted this upthread - everyone isn't cut out for 6 figure, white collar jobs. Or even 5 figure jobs in skilled trades that have entrance exams, skills tests, and require a lot of technical mastery. Ultimately, some people are going to be working in the service industry for life. There's no shame in that.

Tipping in America has nothing to do with entitlement on the part of those serving you. This is the compensation structure that our society has landed on for many (most?) service workers. They're paid next to nothing by their employer, and depend on tips for the vast majority of their wages.

Does it make sense? No. Is it right? Absolutely not. But this is how things stand right now. You refusing to tip your waiter will not change things. You're just putting the screws to someone already in a tough financial situation.

This is a systemic problem - beyond the power of any one customer (or service worker) to solve.
