By the mid-1970s, Black middle-class families were moving into the all-white hoods. Tensions rose!

Ain't shyt changed about me. You not finna gaslight me like I'm imagining things just cause I'm saying some shyt you don't wanna hear--i call shyt like i see shyt, and if what i see is :mjpls: I'm gonna say something about it & ion care how anybody feels. All this talk of 'southern projections'-- whatever tha hell that's supposed to mean--sounds like deflections of what's plain to see. Don't stick your head in tha sand, that's hoogie behavior.

Let's not pretend like what ol boy said is something new and unheard of and ima break it down for you. Attitudes towards us have been like this since tha great migration and it ain't just new york though y'all one of tha main culprits. Southern black folk looking for opportunities and a reprieve from jim crow oppression in tha north only to be met with condescension from northern black folk assimilated to tha urban white man's sensibilities and 'sophistication', worried tht we were gonna fukk up their slice of tha white man's pie. Looked down on us cuz we reminded them of what was valued least in tha world they occupied and it hurt them to be reminded that what they looked down on us for could be found in themselves beyond all of what generations of city living has done to groom them to appease tha tastes of white folk. Some real willie lynch shyt.

Naturally as tha southern black folk that originally migrated acquiesced to their environment through tha generations they took on tha northerners attitudes towards tha kin they left behind. Then when caribbean immigrants came in tha picture, from a place of ignorance as it pertained to aa's and our culture, only being fed tha image of us mainstream cac media put out, they adopted tha same attitudes as well, with those who supposedly knew and know bettter too apathetic to check them on it. That's why I say y'all, and that's why i see all this new shyt about ny being a target for roasting as just chickens coming home to roost. And even then it ain't shyt really, just some shyt you see online.
Thanks for the unnecessary overly long and repetitive on this day in “black history” ‘Mr. Henry Louis Gates.ive been learning about this since i was in pink huggies pull ups . I’m stilll waiting on your response to the actual subject of the thread. And white racism experienced by black children in coping with that. What you stated is already known and nothing new as I see your comprehension hasn’t extended past Your local PBS channel, but that’s a whole other topic of discussion.
And “hoogie” is that a southern slang word, sir? I’m not familiar.

Jews are nice racist they won’t normally attack you.

As for Midwood the neighborhood I grew up in.

Russians, South Asians and now Mexicans now mostly live in the apartment buildings while Jews live in all the nice houses.

I actually was born in a Victorian on Farragut and east 24th. Thankfully most of those Victorian hoods east of Ditmas Park are mostly owned by blacks.
You do know why blacks live in those Victorian homes east of Ditmas park, right? WHITE FLIGHT!

If you go past the Junction in Midwood, its nothing but mostly black people, so the Jews(still white, to me) left. When you look at Ditmas Park, from Beverley Rd. going towards Church ave. its mostly black, but on the other end, it gets white. That is why Ditmas Park still has a lot of whites.

Also, are you sure those blacks OWN those houses, because I can't see all the whites selling their houses knowing they are in prime real estate, and being right next to Brooklyn College. There is no way I will sell my house living there, I will just rent it out. I know a lot of whites are scared to live around blacks, but not all of them, I can't see fear being that bad it allows you to lose definite income.

Race is the central theme of all of this real estate stuff, and until Blacks get down with this reparations movement, nothing will change. This is why I don't understand how can someone who isn't ADOS NOT be down with the movement? If you are black you have no choice but to live around other blacks, regardless of where you come from, and Black americans are the ones who dictate where you will live, so why not get down with something that will benefit everyone in the long run? If ADOS got a boost, that means even more money for black immigrants. They will have more access to capital just because they are black, and there are more black americans then them. The same way white immigrants got a boost when white Americans got a boost from the government prior to the 60's.

It's all about timing, and opportunity. All you need is some new drug to take over, and all those nice houses will turn into ghettos, which is what happened to Flatbush. When Cocaine took over, those Jamaican posses tore Flatbush up with the gunplay, and made it become known for its hood ways we know it today, gangs are all over Flatbush, now! Black people across the world gotta wake up to the game that is being played!

There was nothing about Brooklyn that was prime real estate back in those days.

Plus in the crack epidemic the area around Brooklyn college was not safe at all.

My aunt lived in a building on Campus Rd across the Brooklyn college field it was crack paradise.

Most of the buuldings on Ocean between Glenwood and H weren’t good either. My uncle back in 01 was murdered on H and Ocean Ave.

So those black owned Victorians next to the junction were in the middle of crack infested tenement buildings that were on Ocean Ave, Campus Rd, and some parts of Glenwood and Farragut Rd.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Only 9% Hispanic, with some of that being Afro-Panamanians I bet.

Going across Hook Creek Blvd, there's an immediate change in vibe because Valley Stream is filled with Central Americans (and has a lots of white people, mostly in the Southern part I think)

Yea Valley Stream is mixed pretty even. Lots of Haitians there also.

That part of my response wasn't even directed at you. If you're as knowledgeable as you claim then there really ain't no excuse to turn a blind eye. Can't feign ignorance anymore.

And what I'm talking about is very relevant to tha topic at hand. We know cacs are treacherous so to restate tha obvious is redundant. But if you don't think that shyt ol boy said has anything to do with tha anti black racism prevalent in new York as well as other major cities then either you're playing dumb because you're scared of tha implications or you don't know as much as you claim to.

Hoogie is Louisville/Indiana slang for peckerwood/cracka, b*stardization of 'hoosier'.

Nah, your people are exaggerating. I used to go to P.S.152, and ALWAYS felt safe around there compared to other places in Flatbush. Why do you think Midwood h.s. has always had such a good rep? Its the location, and the money the people in the area had, ESPECIALLY in the 80's. Compare that to P.S. 269 where I went before my mother transfered me to P.S.152, and it was a major difference. P.S.269 was right next to Vanderveer, and used to have shyt all over the schoolyard, fighting all the time, and I used to have to be leary when out of school.

And anyone who says Brooklyn College wasn't prime real estate is also not telling the truth. Brooklyn College is right next to the Junction where there are all types of business being done, hence its prime real estate. In the 80's there was Mcdonalds, Wendy's, Blimpies, Chemical Bank, Jents restaraunt, clothes stores, fish market, Sneaker store, magazine stands, and so much more, just like now. That is PRIME real estate!

I'm not even trying to derail but you're being sensitive & insecure. OP thought it was the south the way those cacs were acting. Then he heard how the little Black children spoke & realized they were northern

He's been negged for not being smarter than the kids in the video, think before you speak:respect:.
He clearly made the assumption people from the south don't speak "intelligently" to him which is ignorant.

Sad to see these kids go through that, they were so strong back then when you think about the shyt that we cry about and take for granted. They had to deal with hardcore racism on a day in and day out basis. Then you will have some idiot watch this video and say "They lucky I wasn't alive in the 70's,I would have fukked shyt up:dame:". Completely downplaying the bravery and courage older black people and the ancestors actually had.
Having the freedom to talk shyt today doesn't mean you would be talking like a big shot back in the day. This little girl I believe has more nuts than 90% of the comfortable nikkas of today would have.

How was St. Albans? :lupe:

That’s where my family stayed. They were there when Lena Horne lived there.

They stay in Holliswood/Jamaica Estates now.

You went to 152? So did my cousins. They lived on Foster and 21st. That area wasn’t as bad as the real hood but like all areas it’s was worse back then than it is now.

My aunt who lives in Philly now didn’t like the building she lived in on campus road because it was an drug dealers infested that building during those days.
My mom also told me muggers use to creep in the Brooklyn College campus.

The full documentary below. Timestamped to show children's reactions to having stones thrown and racial slurs shouted at them:
