If you really think the Asian cat had some formal knowledge of BJJ/MMA techniques then I seriously doubt your credentials as a trained martial artist. These were just non-skilled kids scrapping & the Asian dude got lucky by using his leverage to get the other opponent into a headlock first (which in most cases will give you the major edge in winning a fight/street brawl). But I'd have to agree that you're definitely correct in your belief that more people (specifically African Americans males) need to take up the of study BJJ/MMA for self-defense purposes.
Even if I think as humans we should resolve disputes with words, I can't help but respect proper gentlemen fights :
- 1 on 1, nobody else intervened in the fight but to stop it.
- Rules that are respected (dude release him from the choke hold, in the second video, they broke the fight when both were on the grounds because they "didn't do that shyt")
- No (real) cheap shots
Even if both videos the loser was punched while KO'd, I put that more on the testosterone kicking mixed with the thrill of victory than actual scumbaggery. And the surrounding people kinda intervened quickly to stop that.
I'm so used to see outnumbered beating, people getting whooped while they out cold, sucker punches that it's "refreshing" to see there are still people who settle disputes through honorable fights.
But SMH at cameraman in the first video screaming "run him over !!" while still holding the camera shooting. If he's your boy, you ought to stop filming and hand him some help yourself...

There it is. MMA or BJJ or whatever will help you win in the ring or in a fight( in the social violence sense of the word) but will get you seriously hurt in the realm of self-defense/combat.
