Yeah it’s the gays you should worry about.
They do this as a direct rejection of the US foreign policy trying to encourage it on them. It is essentially them thumbing their noses up at the US. That is also why they work closer with China instead of the US. China is making deals that are miliary & infrastructure focused, while the US is admonishing them for not being more open to LGBTQ+ activities.
Neither country has their best interest at heart, but the US has had its chance having an influence over African nations. I can see them considering other influences, especially when their society over all is not in support of openly LGBTQ+ activities and influences on their people (especially the children).

Are the Governments of Africa not Governments as well? Why shouldn't they have the ability to legislate as they see fit? Nobody is trying to shame Saudi Arabia, Russia and China for their stances on issues, but people have no trouble wagging their fingers in the faces of Africans as if Africans are children that need to be educated on some issue.
Well it is the people that are wagging their fingers that need to be educated. Western Sahelian Africans have by and large been Muslims for over 1,000 years. They were the founders of West Africa's largest empires. The Mandingos had primary schools and universities for centuries before the Europeans ever arrived and they had a Constitution called the Kouroukan Fouga which mandated human rights.
