Money talks and bullshyt walks. Once the TV money gets big enough and that cap gets raised to a level commensurate with average salaries in top leagues. Once it makes financial sense, African players can choose to go to Europe and get bananas thrown at them by their own clubs fans or live in in a coastal American city with a house on a hill and get paid to live an easy life, minimal pressure, probably a guaranteed contract and not have to put up with most of that BS. I know where I would be going if that was the case in 2035. We will also see China stepping up and opening the wallet for world football too on a club level.

i wonder what taxes are to play in these countries.. and why these dudes just don't play over here in the united states like pele and rack up your numbers and make money off endorsements. i'm sure pay cannot be that bad and playing here would be a much better experience than playing in europe.

soccer here will fully mature in 20-30 yrs so better get in early and set records when other players are still wack cause with time it's only gonna get tougher...

Cos MLS is shyt breh :yeshrug: Why play in America in your prime, these guys already making about 10m already and can play against the best in the world as well.

China are already trying to do it breh, as well as countries like Qatar etc...Droga went to China and hated it, Asamoah Gyan plays in Qatar I believe and earning ridiculous money but received loads of complaints saying he left the chance to test himself to get an easy game...Europe will always be the go to destination for big players tbh, maybe it will chance some day but not in our lifetimes. Every nikka wants to win the Champions League in their lifetime :ld:

Life after 7-1: what happens to footballers after a defeat like Brazil's?

So next week, on their private beaches, the players will wonder what kind of punishment awaits a Brazilian who has exposed his nation to ridicule and ignominy on a day when the world had gathered to watch them showing off. And the worst thing is, straight after wondering, they'll know.

On the morning of 16 July 1950, Moacir Barbosa was a success, too. As Brazil's goalkeeper, he was a reigning South American champion, having won the Copa América the previous year, beating Paraguay 7-0 in the final. (And that nil matters. Ask any goalkeeper.) He'd been a multiple champion with his club, too. That day he would represent his country again, this time in the first postwar World Cup final at the newly built Maracanã stadium in Rio. Around 200,000 people, the largest crowd in football history, expected Brazil to beat Uruguay easily, despite needing only a draw to win their first world title, and Brazil scored first, but finally lost 2-1.

It was absurd to vilify Barbosa. He was not at fault for Uruguay's first goal, one of those wallops into the top corner that all keepers have to watch now and then. For the second, he let a shot through at the near post, a classic error, certainly, but one you'll find scattered throughout even the most glorious careers. Besides, Barbosa was voted the best goalkeeper in the tournament by journalists covering it, and was far from the only player who disappointed on the day.

There was a vacancy for a scapegoat, however, and after being at first included on a shortlist of Barbosa, Juvenal and Bigode – Brazil's three black players – Barbosa got the job. For weeks after the match, he and his wife Clotilde dared not leave their home in north Rio, nor even answer the phone. They moved in with friends. Fellow pros accepted what happened to Barbosa could happen to them, and he continued to play, but only once more for Brazil. It would be 40 years before the country picked its next black goalkeeper.

And the vilification of Barbosa was never corrected. Even as the Brazil team began to earn a reputation for both beauty and winning, Barbosa remained toxic for many Brazilians. "He is the man that made all of Brazil cry," he once overheard a woman whisper to her young son in a supermarket. During preparations for the 1994 World Cup he visited the national team's training camp to meet the players, but was turned away as a bad luck charm. (Brazil won the tournament on penalties, thanks to good luck, and a crucial save from their white goalkeeper Taffarel.) Throughout his life, Barbosa tried to remain good-humoured, even when it was hard to find people who would laugh. The maximum sentence in Brazil was supposed to be 30 years, he used to say, and died penniless in 2000, still saying it.

And to think I was feeling a little sorry for Brazil :mjpls:

I hope the tactical genius LVG smashes them with his revolutionary 6-3-1 formation.

mls is not as shyt as you think. there's opportunity for those who see it.

eg i was involved in soccer many years locally. and met with plenty pros and semi pros who are involved with european leagues.

if you look at a player like say james rodriguez, it would be better for him to be here than brazil or mexico who wouldn't even consider having him let alone have the right money for him. of course he could fit in italy and spain more than a black player would..

and the chances of any kid making it pro to the mls is a lot higher than in any other league.

I want the MLS to grow even bigger but I don't think that young players like James or Hazard will be coming to play in the MLS in our lifetime.

You have to be stupid to pass up the chance of going to Europe and winning the Champions League. The MLS has no prestigious tournament. but :salute: to the MLS. They have surpassed the NBA and NHL in league attendance. Only the MLB and NFL stand in its way due to the big stadiums.

Frank Lampard
David Villa
Kaka

Next seaon :wow:

I hope Xavi follows.

Tbh breh a guy like James Rodriguez , a South American will 99% want to play in Spain mainly because of all the South American legends that have played over there, it fits their style of play and they most of the time want to play for Real Madrid or Barca. Theres no incentive to play in the MLS, you can get similar wages in Europe and win much more prestigious championships over there. Who in our lifetime will really think "fukk Europe, I wanna play in the MLS and win the MLS cup!" :ld:

Itll happen sometime or another but not in our lifetimes I think, MLS is till building

fame no fortune..

i'm sure all the top leagues think their leagues are the best and want to attract the best players.. it's up to the players to go to where ever they feel most comfortable and selfish to their stats. and i think the best league for that is mls.

can't just be making decisions and going with what's popular. and i watched plenty of italy seria a-napoli maradona matches..
bundesliga -fc koln, epl man-u etc...

don't worry brehs, as soon as wages in america reach european wages a bunch of stars will go 'fukk europe'

let me guess, would you rather play in some dreary rundown worse-than-Detroit-equavialent in england like sunderland, or even columbus? i know which i'd choose

it's already happening with a lot of lower-level and older players :yeshrug:
