Bulls stay at No. 14, but intrigue still emanates from NBA draft lottery

Butler sat on the dais Tuesday night to represent the Bulls. Meanwhile, sources said the Bulls dismissed Jen Swanson as the team's director of sports performance. Swanson oversaw Rose's ACL rehab in 2012 as a prominent Los Angeles-based physical therapist and was hired, amid much fanfare, to oversee the Bulls' training and strength staffs in September 2013.

According to someone who spoke to Swanson, she was told the Bulls merely wanted "to shake things up" after another injury-plagued season.

The Bulls also dismissed strength coach Nick Papendieck, and one of Butler's trainers is in line as a replacement, sources said.

Butler spoke publicly for the first time since Forman said "we have to explore all options" when asked directly if Butler is a franchise centerpiece. The comment irked Butler, although sources said the Bulls have no plans to trade the two-time All-Star.

"I didn't do my job, so I guess everything is on the table," Butler said. "If I help us win games and get us in the playoffs and put us in a position to win a championship, he wouldn't say it. So I'm not mad at (Forman). He's doing his job."

"We've got to get in the gym together," Butler said. "We have to get used to each other's games and our tendencies. That's only going to help and give us extra time."

Butler reiterated the need for he and Rose to train together this offseason to form better chemistry. He said the two haven't been in the same city yet to do so.

"Maybe I did talk too much," he said. "I'm always learning. I always want to know how to get better. I read. I talk to people. As long as I'm willing to learn and take that criticism, I'll be all right."

The Bulls had just a 1.8 percent chance to move into the top three and a 0.5 percent chance at the top pick. They also failed to cash in the Kings' pick from the Luol Deng trade when Sacramento stayed at No. 8.

That pick is top-10 protected for one more season and then becomes a second-rounder.

Its been a month now since Garpax's season ending press conference in which they said that they were holding themselves "accountable" for the season that we had... Yet, they don't even bother being the face of an entire season that symbolizes complete & utter failure, on their part, tomorrow in the Draft Lottery. Instead, they opt to trot Yimmy out there to seemingly smooth over any speculation of him being moved after they were non-committal, and sent shots at him as well during the press conference. These dudes are truly & utterly disgusting.

As an aside:

Derrick Rose, son P.J. throw out first pitch at Cubs game (VIDEO)
