The Nets with all 3 of them are the favorites and should win. 3 of the top 5 iso scorers in the league, nobody can stop that.
However the Bulls are the best equipped team in the league to try to stop them. They have the best perimeter defense in the league when everybody is healthy. Lonzo, Caruso, Javonte Green, Ayo, and Derrick Jones are very good defenders. Troy Brown Jr and Lavine are at least decent. Coby White has even been D'ing up lately. We always have at least 2 of those guys out there. Tony Bradley is also a decent back up center (defensively). And Pat Williams should be back for the playoffs, and he's at least decent, we don't know how good he can be on that end yet. There's also Alfonso Mckinnie now who is 6'8 and decent. The Bulls have the most bodies to throw at teams.
DJJ guarded Durant as well as one can in the first meeting this season. The Bulls could realistically throw DJJ, Pat, Javonte, Troy Brown, McKinnie, and even Lonzo at Durant if they're all healthy. They all have long enough arms to pester KD a bit.
And then for Kyrie and Harden we have all those guys + Caruso and Ayo. That's 8 good perimeter defenders (9 if you count Zach) they can throw at teams. Durant is a perimeter player at the end of the day. The top players in the east are:
Durant
Harden
Kyrie
Giannis
Middleton
Holiday
Jimmy
Lowry
Bam
Mobley
Garland
Embiid
Harris
Beal
Kuzma I have to list just bc he is built to torch the Bulls
Tatum
Brown
Lamelo
Bridges
Siakim/OG/Barnes
Trae
Collins
Sabonis
Levert
I bolded the guys that are big enough and play big enough to give the Bulls' defenders I just listed problems. I already talked about Durant and realistically nobody can stop him if he's hitting his shots. Giannis is probably the biggest issue for the Bulls, but hopefully you can force him into missed jumpers in the playoffs (that's the only hope). Mobley is a rookie and not that strong but is long enough and good enough that the Bulls would not be able to stop him (he would have to have a Tim Duncan hall of famer rookie playoff campaign, which I don't think is impossible but isn't likely). They can't stop Embiid and would have to outscore the Sixers, which doesn't seem that hard. Kuzma- Pat can probly shut him down but he was torching the Bulls last game and he's 6'10. Bridges is strong as shyt but probably isn't a good enough shooter to score enough to get past the Bulls in a series. But he has a good mentality and I wouldn't count him out, and the Hornets in general can score with anyone. A couple off games when they're on could be a problem for any team, but at the end of the day their defense will probably fail them. The Raptors are an interestingly built team that would have to rely on a leap in offense from one of Siakim, OG, or Barnes, who have all shown a lot of skill this season, to beat the Bulls. Their shooting is questionable, but Pat can only guard one of them and all 3 of those guys can overpower smaller players. Sabonis is an actual big man that has torched the Bulls twice this season, but the Pacers will probably blow it up.
The unbolded guys play more perimeter-based games that the Bulls are well equipped to guard. So it basically comes down to Embiid and Giannis. With Embiid, even if he averages 40/15 for a series I think the Bulls can still beat them by outplaying them on the perimeter. Giannis will be forced into jump shots/forced to pass, and hopefully Donte Divincenzo and Bobby Portis don't kill us from 3.
The Bulls have arguably the best offense in the league if everyone is on, because of the variety of initiators and initiation points, especially if Coby White keeps up his recent run of play. There isn't a defense good enough to completely shut down every option. Given that, I don't count them out in any matchup. And given that I'm a Bulls fan, I'm going to confidently say we're winning the championship and no team can see us
