anybody have any views or opinions on Chomsky ideals?
Reasonable concern.
...but the mounting threat is consistent with human nature, and i dont see us changing course.
I'm not a big fan.what do you think about his work ? its seems like he's more razor edge, by razor edge i mean straight to the point.
I'm not a big fan.
He is good at fingering out problems and conveying them in an easy to understand way, but he is horrible at finding/suggesting solutions.
I am a fan. He's brilliant and was instrumental in helping to form my worldview as a youngin. That being said, I agree that he is much better at diagnosis than finding cures.I'm not a big fan.

his basic problem is that he seems to think that american imperialism is some kind of peculiar and particularly evil form of empire and not just an extension of normal human behavior and other empires going back 5000 years
and/or that there is some greener grass on the other side when in reality on the other side of american empire is communism and islamic theocracies
http://goo.gl/XhmjMZI think what we ought to do is to try to understand the truth about the world. And the truth about the world is usually quite unpleasant. My own concern is primarily the terror and violence carried out by my own state, for two reasons. For one thing, because it happens to be the larger component of international violence. But also for a much more important reason than that; namely, I can do something about it. So even if the U.S. was responsible for 2 percent of the violence in the world instead of the majority of it, it would be that 2 percent I would be primarily responsible for. And that is a simple ethical judgment. That is, the ethical value of one's actions depends on their anticipated and predictable consequences. It is very easy to denounce the atrocities of someone else. That has about as much ethical value as denouncing atrocities that took place in the 18th century. The point is that the useful and significant political actions are those that have consequences for human beings. And those are overwhelmingly the actions which you have some way of influencing and controlling, which mean for me, American actions.

Lol...the problem with this statement is that it's completely untrue.his basic problemis that he seems to think that american imperialism is some kind of peculiar and particularly evil form of empire and not just an extension of normal human behavior and other empires going back 5000 years

I think you're completely misinterpreting his views. This quote explains why he focuses on US issues with such intensity, to the point where it might give someone that impression:

Lol...the problem with this statement is that it's completely untrue.
what did i misinterpret? what does that paragraph prove? all he did was elaborate on why he personally focuses on the US, he doesnt explain why focusing on the american impeialism is a superior analysis method and he doesnt explain what is peculiar about the american empire aside from the fact that he lives in it
if he, as an american, is appalled by the actions of the american empire, thats fine, but from what ive seen he has never shown objectively that there is anything peculiar about america or proven that america is the center of evil in the world
