there's nothing in the Buddhist doctrine that condones violence under any circumstances

The more I think of it, the reasoning behind these attacks on muslims, parallels to life for blacks in America, prior to the the civil rights act;but only to a certain degree. Taoism doesnt necessarily advocate nonviolence. As I've been taught Taoism recognizes that violence is necessary to correct imbalances in many things in life.

I'm not surprised. It's a very individualistic religion.

But "violence" occurs in nature all the time. The Taoists, as observers of the natural world have made their note.
