When it was Bob Dylan and other legends, the Coli said it made sense because "no one is streaming that music anymore, anyway." Which I disagreed with but fine. Now it's a young artist, who gets heavy streaming/sales, not to mention his music will continue to be in ads/films/etc for years to come...does the Coli still think this is a good idea?

The up front money is nice. Maybe he needed it after a year of being unable to tour. But long term is this a good idea, for a young artist who likely still has multiple hit songs and records in his future? I don't think so.

masters/catalog owning will be pretty irrelevant in a few years.

how many songs from the past 10 years are actually going to be played heavily in commercials, tv, movies, etc?

Although Bruno is one of the few artist who's music I see being played, he must have got offered a grip to sell it.

Well according to some they are taking out artists that don't sell their catalog so......

yikes!

but it’s no secret that when MJ got his hands on the Beatles catalog (among others) a lot of people felt some kind of way and by the early 90s they were gunning for his ass. That 30-40 years later that catalog is a license to print money and he held on to his half of it til then.

His estate is out of their damn minds and there’s no way he would co sign it.

imagine being one person and having 50% of something and your “partner” in the other half is a billion dollar corporation.
