I kinda liked Martin Shkreli for fukkery's sake and feel like they're making an example out of him, but you reap what you sow. :manny: Other than being white he wasn't exactly born on third base, so I respect his success, but he let all of that go to his head. On a positive note, he might be able to help some folks on the inside as he was already doing. Kinda like Madoff does behind bars.

As I said earlier though, pop music is basically appropriation in itself. If there's anything worth debating or discussing regarding the subject, it might be where the lines are between homage, influenced by, and blatant jacking? And even that doesn't warrant a videotaped round table discussion full of so called woke people high off their own tea tree oil. Bunch of Joe Colleges sitting around a table discussing how Bruno Mars is "problematic." Then the idiots in the background validating them, "right!", "facts!", etc.. Retards are leading the retards. Can't make this stuff up.

When she raised her voice, "I'm talking now!!", :mjlol:

Cape for pharmaceutical executives and culture vultures and shyt on women of color, brehs :mjlol:

Go make a reddit account, that's where shkreli supporters and dismissive misogynistic a$$holes flourish. :stopitslime: :camby:

Black folks don't support them cacs , maybe one day you'll stop caping for all these crackers
Then why were they getting major spins on black radio? They don’t play your records if people don’t listen.

This is nothing but another attack on heterosexual black men (by proxy), who are NOT a part of the intersectionality program. If Bruno Mars was gay (or openly, he could be :yeshrug:) this wouldn’t even be an argument. The fact nobody cared to attack actual appropriators who are white and not even American should tell you what time it is. Sam Smith is gay (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and Adele is a woman. They’re protected by intersectionality. Straight men of color are not.

“We” don’t cosign anything. The prime (paying) consumers of hip hop and r&b are young white people. As it’s always been. Their dollars dictate popularity and the push certain artists get.

:stopitslime: I see mad c00ns loving Bruno Mars music. I hear that racist cac Post Malone's music blaring out of black radio stations.

Stop with this mess. Mad black people co-sign these muthafukkas.

I live by a simple rule. I don't listen to any music made by non-black people. And if more black people thought that way these dudes wouldn't be blowing up.

This what I see happening anytime other people appropriate black shyt, people turn in back around into black people fault somehow.

full stop.

but yeah, the question is, what exactly do people do about Bruno? Some of yall laughing at Tariq for trying to take the sound back. :francis: He's at least providing an alternative. What's the point of sitting around bytching about Bruno Mars if the black alternatives (not Tariq but other more credible artists) to Bruno is either laughed at or ignored?

And i'll say it, some of them Bruno songs are good and that's just an added layer to the dilemma. :manny: If I were to call an "appropriator" a karaoke artist it would be someone like Post Malone. His songs sound like a white guy trying to use black/urban/street stereotypical words and just repeating them. That dude has zero talent. Bruno at least can hold a note and make songs that are not so "black" like that Locked out of Heaven song.

People who like Bruno are gonna keep listening to him

People who don't , won't.

People who obsess about not liking him/accusing him of appropriation........on to the next target I guess.

I had a recent convo with a older guy who absolutely hated Bruno (he knew his music too) and agreed with the cultural appropriation but also blamed society and pop culture and us.

He said same reason Bruno is so successfull is why THE ROCK is the number 1 actor in Hollywood right now.

Everyone loves someone “Blackish” But not BLACK.

We give the Rock the pass so it’s no surprise Bruno gets away with what he does

So who’s really to blame?

Back in the 90s Mariah was loved by everyone Black and white but wouldn’t she be seen as a Vulture in today’s racial climate?

most of the people on twitter are "we know he's copying black people, we just don't care, because he makes good songs". I'm like well, it would be nice if he used his platform to showcase other aspiring black artists. Don't just say "well I give credit to black people"...help get some black people some careers.
