Comment about the build from the YouTube vid posted:
1) No Dreamcast emulator is capable of running this final 2024 update for Dreamcast (so far, emulator creators need to reprogram their emulators to support this version of GTA III).
2) Only the real hardware can run this version of GTA III (as demonstrated in the video, on both the left and right sides).
3) GTA III on Dreamcast now has full support for controllers with 2 analog sticks and 8 buttons (as seen in the video, and explained below in item 4).
4) Since its launch, the Dreamcast was designed for a controller with 2 analog sticks and 9 buttons; however, the Dreamcast didn’t live long enough for Sega to release a second version of the controller with more analog sticks and buttons. Therefore, the GTA III update takes advantage of this, allowing for better gameplay.
5) You can play without Motion Blur (Left Screen/Dreamcast Style) or play with Motion Blur (Right Screen/PlayStation 2 Style)... Personally, I hate Motion Blur, so I prefer the Left Screen.
6) The game is not using the full capacity of the Dreamcast, there is still a lot of room for improvements.
7) Although the Motion Blur simulates the PS2 version, the game is not running at 480i, but rather at 480p, which consumes more resources, as the VGA Box doesn’t work with games in 480i or 240p...
8) The game can now be played from start to finish, that's right! From start to finish! However, this is not the final version, as the developers will continue working on the project throughout 2025, 8) further improving graphics and performance.
9) The 2 analog sticks are truly analog.
10) There are reflections on cars, roads (when it rains/night), a larger number of cars at the same time compared to the PS2 version, more polygons compared to the PS version... and of course, 480p, which is much better than 480i.
