Palp was strong enough in the force to keep a young, still confused and angry, demoralized and recently crippled Vader in line but that was also psychological.

When Vader got OLDER, he regained SOME of his former power, not all of it, but alot, and his light saber skills became DEADLY. If he really wanted to by the time of Empire he couldve taken out Palp but he was literally obsessive, first with hunting down the remaining Jedi, then with hunting down Luke

Battle, Intimate Relationships, Material Possessions. The Jedis moral code is idealistic but unrealistic. Bottling all those emotions is what allowed Palapatine to swindle TF outta Anakin. Also had Anakin fallen we would have gotten a duel foe the ages. Both Mace and Ani were anomalpus talents and their battle wouldve been something to behold. One thing I will say is that I wish Mace said fukk tgr Jedi nonsense and birthed a son. Imagine a disillusioned Mace training his child to become the Galaxy's hope. No more waiting on false Messiahs (Skywalkers). No more limintations of absolutes (Jedi/Sith). Just a collective of Forcr sensitives who harness both sides and walk a righteous path. Bruh in my head canon. Somewhere out there some bre called Abeenu son of Windu is waiting for his billion dollar break. Disney if your reading this hit up your boy.

The rage and anger at himself and at Palpatine and everyone else CONSUMED him in the way that only a Sith could be consumed by anger.

So he channelled that rage into doing that Emperors bidding...hunting down the Jedi and exterminating them...conquering and controlling the galaxy in hopes that one day he could possibly take him on

And then along comes Luke...
