Bad booking aside, another thing that keeps AEW out of the mainstream is a lack of interesting characters. Just having a show with back to back matches may satisfy the fanbase, but that won't draw any new eyes to AEW.
Outside of Sting, Mark Henry, Big Show, & Jericho, and MAYBE Jade, Starks, & MJF, there's not a single homegrown member of the roster (including TK) that the mainstream would care about.
As much as we shyt on Vince & Bischoff, they knew how to get fans to care about the wrestlers. WCW & WWF wrestlers were regulars on Arsenio, Jay Leno, MTV, etc. HHH was on SNL & The Bernie Mac Show, Bret Hart was on MadTV & The Simpsons, and Batista is in the MCU. Miz just played in the celebrity game on MLB All Star Weekend and he did Dancing With The Stars, Roman was just on the Today Show, and Bianca Belair is on a trajectory to be bigger than the business in a few years. Sasha and Naomi's exit even made the mainstream press. The Rock is one of the biggest stars on the planet. None of these people would be where they are if we didn't have a reason to care about them in the first place. We fans connected to their characters, and supported them as they became mainstream.
Almost nobody on the AEW roster has a clearly defined character (no, painting half of your face, bleeding, or cussing isn't a character). A few weekly 10-30 second interviews and video packages would go a long way in helping to develop interesting characters that could one day wind up on Jimmy Fallon or get the lead in a major motion picture.

Bad booking and lack of interesting characters is hurting both AEW and WWE.

Orange Cassidy and Dan Hausen next mainstream stars from wrasslin

Sad to say it but this is as mainstream Dub going to get :francis: . Khan and em need to stop having these high mighty expectations and accept Comic Con nerd money. Everything about the Dub screams smark mark, so how in the living hell they are going to reach a mainstream audience, when they have Mancer in a main event, yet a single soul do not know who the fukk he is.

Well when you are good at one thing you don't go do something your not good at. :yeshrug:

I am going to rep this post. Like I am all for dreams, but goddamn if you are good at something just embrace it and not forsake it. Hell, I got a overbite out of the ass and would desire a dentist like Britt Baker. If I am getting my teeth checked by Britt, I'm not going to go "how was the match?" I'm going to go "what that invisalign do:lupe:"
