I think it's in our very best interest to care about what white people think of us because what they think matters as they have the footing to translate those thoughts to impactful actions that might adversely affect us as a group. I'd argue that we don't care enough about what they think of us which leads us to be perpetually reactionary. I'm not suggesting that we should care what they think so we can obsess obsess over it without backing it with action but rather care about what they think as a means of forming a real strategy. We don't have the luxury to not care about what our oppressors think about us, they on the other hand do have the luxury of not caring what we think about them and in spite of that fact, they still care because they are always forming new strategies in effort to refine the system of racism/white supremacy.
