I actually don't think their accents are overrated. It's the only thing that makes them stand out. Their sense of humour is more overrated but because of their accents, it makes everything sounds extra funny. alot of people also think you're smart if you have a British accent for some reason. funny because they are not smarter nor more street smart than Americans.

In fact I read/heard Southern USA English accent is closer to Old British accent.

The weirdest part to me is that I knew an English White woman that immigrated to the USA and the more time that she spent around Black people the more her accent changed to sounding like a Southern Black woman. That shyt was wild.

It was so natural that it did not even seem out of place.

I don't know what that even means, but if you listen to some people from England they sound pretty similar to people from the American South.

Brummie and West Midlands
Many London accents
Yorkshire accents
Geordie and Mackern accents
Cumbrian accents
South Midlands accent (my accent)
Certain East Midlands accents

My cousins are Manc and Scouse lol. Growing up up north was a next one, as a Londoner.
