Lol so you ignore Ibaka missing a whole 2 games in the 2014 Spurs/OKC series but bring up Splitter and Mills(who shot 50% FG and 57% from 3 in that series, which is why everyone was wondering why pop didnt give him more minutes) in the Clippers series. Why even lie and name drop Mills like he played terribly?
OKC got blown the fukk out in SA w/ Ibaka in Gm 5, Ibaka wasn't going to save 'em from getting annihilated in Gm1/2. OKC lost Gm 6 at home w/ Tony Parker no playing the 2nd half & he was playing w/ a strained hamstring for the ENTIRE postseason. Ibaka also didn't have a debilitating injury as he was running like a gazelle & blocking shots in Gm 3/4.
In 2015, Splitter being out was a HUGE deal b/c he was the Spurs best PnR defender & all the Clipper do is run PnRs. Tony Parker also had the worst series by a starting PG in 30 year (I'm not no kidding, look it up). Danny Green & Diaw also couldn't hit an outside shot which meant they couldn't punish the Clippers for doubling Kawhi who started forcing shots at the latter end of the series. Patty played well on offense but he got abused by none other than Austin Rivers & Manu was out of commission by Gm 6.
In the 2014 OKC series Kawhi averaged 11.8ppg on 49% TS, 6th on the team. Lower than Danny Green. His defense played a huge part in that series win, but lol at sonning KD. It was a team effort.
Kawhi wasn't unleashed until Finals, Pop had him spotting up in the corner like Ariza until he had to slay LeBron. Diaw was the one that murked KD on offense when OKC tried to play small-ball & Kawhi shut his ass down in the OT period by holding the MVP scoreless. Danny Green also got worked by WestBrook in Gm 4 which is when Kawhi switched onto him & swung the momentum of the series.
He came out looking to finish the job on the road & let KD/Ibaka know about it right from tip off.
He also made one of the most incredible blocks I've ever seen on a 3-on-2 fastbreak against the most athletic PG to EVER play the game (rather than broken down Iggy) which basically saved the Spurs from having to play a Gm 7 which they would have probably lost considering Tim/Manu played heavy minutes & Parker left the game w/ injury:
In the 2015 series, Kawhi averaged 14ppg on 41% TS(30% FG) in the last 3 games while getting torched by CP3. With HCA
You mean when Doc decided to double him every time he touched the ball in the post after he wore out Barnes? "L.A. coach Doc Rivers sent a double-team at Leonard almost every time he touched the ball on the block."
2016 OKC series. You've clowned KD and Westbrook for blowing that 3-1 lead. But now there is no shame losin to a team had 12 less wins and -3 SRS levels lower? Nothing but excuses for Leonard.
Spurs face challenge of guarding OKC's stars
Big Dummy, Kawhi was guarding WestBrick whom he held to 32% shooting when he was the primary defender (the same Russ that looked like '93 Jordan in the WCF before he gassed out). Russ scored a bunch of point in transition when AARP Tim/Diaw/West were blowing layup.
Kawhi outplayed Durant in Gm 5 & it was Aldridge who went completely ghost after he blew his load in Gm 1-2. (Refs also rewarded Durant two FTs for committing an offensive foul w/ the game tied at 90 then topped it off by giving WestBrick an And-1 after he was intentionally fouled)
The only time Kawhi checked Durant was when he already rolling which is like being asked to put out a warehouse fire w/ a garden hose.
