Superstar
they got point until this season. he just took his game to another level.
Only person in sports to get criticized like lebron is peyton manning everyone else is no where near as close.
LBJ is in a league of his own when it comes to the criticism.
Then you have KD, Westbrook, Cousins, Draymond, Beard, and Melo.
Then you maybe have CP3, Blake, Rondo, Brow, Lillard, and Wall.
I might be missing a few but ain't nobody else really under that microscope like that.
No, but the superstar tier players he's compared to can or have damn near averaged 30. He's a great player but he's not doing what those other guys do every night.
And his game hasn't done nothing but gone up.Ain't his fault he was wide open
Malawi Leonard
What is wrong with yall nikkas? In every sport, every competitive environment where theres either a title at stake or money at stake, cats don't want to give others props. Shoot I just saw the netflix joint on hip hop where Kane said he was better than Rakim. Every dude in the NBA thinks he's an All Star if given the right opportunity. Every All Star thinks he's the best player in the league on any given night. Clyde Drexler still thinks he was as good as Jordan. Of course cats think Kawhi is overrated, especially when most of the props he gets are from supposedly shutting guys like him down. Shoot I understand Bron saying it to. Kawhi won Finals MVP for hitting wide open shots and guarding Bron even though Bron was clearly the best player on the court. You got guys drafted into garbage situations that feel like if they had the same chance to grow organically and without pressure like Kawhi they'd be far better than him and its hard to disagree.
Breh what are you talking about :dahellwhat:
Tim Duncan is an all time great player...won 5 rings...put a franchise on his back for over a decade...and you don't think there is any pressure on Kawhi to try and live up to that :dahellwhat:
Pop has been saying FOR YEARS that Kawhi is going to have to be the best player on this team...that Kawhi is going to have to be the face of this team...that it was not going to be enough for him to just be a great defender anymore...you don't think there is pressure in an all time great coach telling you...as the 15th pick in the draft...that you going to have to be the franchise guy YEARS before you are actually the franchise guy?
Spurs have won 50 games a year for what...18 years now...and you don't think there is pressure to live up to that:dahellwhat: If Paul George or Jimmy Butler or John Wall had their teams in position to win 50 games this season no one would ever shut the fukk up about it. James Harden has his team in position to win 50 games this year and he is probably the de facto MVP now. Kawhi leads his team to 50 wins and it is just another spurs season. 50 wins is the MINIMUM. Breh if Kawhi leads the Spurs to a 49 win season THAT IS A FALLOFF...outside of Lebron and the Warriors who else does that apply to? What other player or teams besides those are going to win 49 games this year and the media will say "well you know when Timmy was there they were winning 50":usureusure:
He carries the expectation of being a 20 + ppg scorer WHILE also being expected to be a top 5 defender in basketball, if not the outright defender in basketball... Earlier this year the spurs were just a middle of the road defense and all you heard about was "what is wrong with Kawhi Leonard defense this year?"
He's the 15th pick in the draft. Quick tell me what other team in the nba has pinned their franchise on a dude who wasn't even a lottery pick?
Your favorite player wouldn't last 5 minutes in swag antonio...he'd suffocate to death living in the shadow of Dungawd...he'd be crushed by the expectation of an all time great coach...he'd be swallowed up by a fan base who expects you to win AT LEAST 50 games a year...and he just isn't good enough at basketball to guard 4 positions with elite shutdown defense WHILE also being virtually unguardable on the offense end WHILE having the uber coveted 50 40 90 season...
When Steph was having his 50 40 90 season they called him the greatest shooter ever...Kawhi is having one right now and I haven't heard one single media person talk about it
Yeah this entire post is fukk nikka gibberishNah because there isn't. Kawhi caught 0 heat for getting ran off by OKC last year despite being 2nd in the MVP. NObody questioned his toughness, leadership, any of the things that a guy like Bron or Chris Paul gets questioned for yearly. He gets the benefits of a star without the scrutiny
Sure internal pressure but that's not what we're talking about No player is irritated by the amount of hype or pressure he gets from his organization, they're talking about the media and the public perception.
Again, you're missing the point Kawhi has no PUBLIC pressure on him. The Spurs are seen as a true team/organization in which the credit is spread. Not only that but Kawhi is playing with 2 guys who were all stars a few years ago in Gasol and Aldridge and 2 other fringe HOF players and with the greatest coach in the game. He is NOT asked to carry the franchise like other guys are. Is he the best player? Yea. Does he have the city on his shoulders like all these other guys? No. When the Spurs fail its seen as a group thing. When the Cavs fail, its on Bron. When the Clips fail, its on CP3. When the Wizards fail, its on Wall. Kawhi simply doesn't get that level of scrutiny. Its not even really debatable
This is stupid. He's only expected to be what he is. And he's nowhere near the first guy to be a teams leading scorer and best defender. Its not even that rare. Paul George, Bron, A Davis, go down the line. He's a top 5 defender because that's what he is. He doesn't HAVE to be elite for the Spurs to have a shot to win unlike some of these other guys. Early in his career all he had to do was play D because he had the luxury of being on the Spurs which other stars didn't.
What are you talmbout nikka? THey didn't do anything to 'pin' their franchise on Kawhi. He's their best player but they didn't give up the world to get him or completely change their culture. They traded George Hill for him and developed him and now he's a great player. They didn't make any big moves to give him the keys when he was a 1st or 2nd year guy or anything. This is a stupid point. And beyond that its not even correct. Isaiah Thomas was the last pick in the draft and is Boston's best player. Atlanta built a 60 win team around Paul Milsap who was a 2nd rounder. Get ya smarts up nikka
:nananan: this nikka acting like San Antonio is some pressure cooker :drakelll:
