Sure things will change. We just got on-paper equal rights maybe 50 years ago, it's going to take time for black billionaires to start showing up in enough numbers to buy a lot of sports franchises.
Folks seem to not know today that the current NFL is actually a merger of what had been several competitive leagues.
The All America Football Conference (AAFC) was small, lasted only a few years but included San Francisco 49ers, the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Colts.
The AAFC teams merged into the NFL in 1950.
The American Football League (AFL) only lasted ten years and merged with the NFL in 1970. In the AFL were: New York Titans (now the Jets), Boston Patriots (now New England) , Buffalo Bills, Houston Oilers, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, and Dallas Texans.
Entrepreneurs have built, grown and merged new leagues/new teams throughout the history of sports.
Even the USFL is returning this year.
So the notion that a sport with a 70 percent Black male labor force somehow cannot launch a league with more racially diverse ownership is based on fear of Black ownership and control alone, not the historical reality.
Many are more concerned with being well-compensated employees, without any power to hire, fire or acquire.
