This is long overdue. Black assistants get pimped out every year for meaningless interviews, knowing damn well they aren't a serious candidate. I'm glad the Rooney Rule exists but its implementation/enforcement is a complete farce. Everyone knew Shanahan was getting the 49ers job while he was still in the playoffs, making it impossible for them to have interviewed a black candidate with any level of sincerity, and nobody cared.
Salute to Flores, it takes some serious nerve to go up against the NFL legal team. This probably ends with a big settlement and never working in the NFL again.

The team that hires the GM doesn't get the draft picks. The team where the candidate comes from does. You're correct though in that they should change it and make it so that the team that does the hire benefits from draft picks as well.
