Angle is better than Bret in damn near every category but tsc usually rides will nostalgia and will pick Hitman.

I'm a Hitman fan btw.

When you're younger it's easier to get emotionally invested in matches which can, of course, skewer your perspective. I saw Angle's matches with older and more cynical eyes so they couldn't mean as much to me as Bret's.
I wouldn't class it as nostalgia however because Bret's matches still stand up today. Nostalgia would be me saying Krull is one of the greatest movies of all time when it's clearly a piece of shyt. I mean I still love it but christ, it sucks on almost every level.

:ehh:

Vice-versa with me. Grew up with King Kurtis and only really caught Bret's unmemorable WCW run

I first saw Krull in my early 20s and thought it was good cheesy fun. :D

Angle just a more evolved athlete in every respect. Bret didn't have the best feet, but knew every gotdamned step, if that made any sense.

Bret is my GOAT, but I wouldn't even be mad if King Kurt got him :yeshrug:

Just don't book Bret to tap :birdman:

Read what I'm saying again: early-to-mid 90's FACE Bret is what we're discussing, not the swagged out Canadian one that feuded with Austin and HBK

A lot of wrestler's personas wouldn't have lasted in The Attitude Era, that's a given.

Hulkamania would have no place in the Attitude Era but Hollywood Hogan would.

Surfer Sting would have no place in the Attitude Era but Crow Sting would.

Exactly what I've been saying.

Bret would have lasted in the Attitude Era, no doubt about it - but not with the persona he had going for him. He'd have had to alter and improve on a lot of shyt, imo

I always had Krull over Star Wars 'til I watched it as an adult. Once I'd gotten over the soul crushing realization that I had lived a lie for about 2 decades, it was quite enjoyable. Two things it will always have over Star Wars though,

:childplease:Kurt Angle isn't even Bret's league. There's only a select few that could tell a story better than Bret Hart in the ring, and Kurt Angle sure as hell isn't one of them.

Kurt is one of the most overrated workers of the past twenty years. Fantastic athlete, but the guy has no understanding of how to structure an actual match. If Kurt is in charge of calling a match, then be prepared to witness 20 olympic slams and him going for an ankle lock without even working the ankle.

Bret tapping to Luger's torture rack was a dark day for me breh. :sadbron:

It was so WRONG :ohlawd:

I don't care if Bret put that nikka into a coma on the following Thunder with the Sharpshooter. Tapping to the rack on Nitro was the moment I knew going to WCW was a mistake :to:

I agree he is overrated in the sense of being "the GOAT" (he would only be top 15 if I did a North American wrestlers list) but I call bullshyt on him not understanding how to structure a match. When he wants to, he can tell a great story, do great moves and build drama. But most of the time he's just "lazy" and decides to do a bunch of moves and reversals.

Thing is, most of the fans LOVE that style and haven't grown tired of it. I don't blame Kurt for sticking to what works, even though he had all the tools to be even better.
