Kurt is more talented and better overall talent. Bret was the better wrestler.

The excellence of execution got this.

Kurt is going to have to drink tons of milk in order to keep up.

Angle is a lot more explosive and versatile than Bret in every category

This match would have been :ahh:

I liked Bret's style more. In ring they are probably even skill wise, but I think as an overall character Bret was a bigger babyface and a bigger heel than Kurt.

Different times b

Early to mid 90's the crowd would have been :lawd: for All-American Kurtis

Put face Bret around in the late 90's/early 00's and he wouldn't have lasted six months

My absolute dream match-up. Bret was usually the guy extracting the best out of others, but I truly believe Kurt would have been the one to extract the absolutely best out of Bret.

I think Kurt put on better matches with actual stars (SCSA excluded), then again he had more opportunities. Bret was better at having a solid match with anyone, and much better in telling a story.

A heel Bret/face Kurt or vice versa.. :wow:

Too close to call (got Bret by default) all I know is that finish would be :dj2:

Maybe 92-95 Bret

But Face Bret of 96 def could have worked in the Attitude Era. If Benoit worked, why wouldn't Bret?

Bret was more fluid than Kurt ever was and while Kurt tells the same story every match (submission, reversal, submission), Bret knew how to tell a story better than almost anyone ever and he did it with smaller wrestlers, juiced up wrestlers and big monsters. Bret could also sell better.

FYI, Bret worked The Attitude Era. Go back and watch 1997. Its the beginning of the Attitude Era and Bret was a heel with massive heat. He was hated in America and loved in Canada. The dynamic was great.

Angle is better than Bret in damn near every category but tsc usually rides will nostalgia and will pick Hitman.

I'm a Hitman fan btw.

I think I'm with you on this but,,,

Nostalgia goes a long way though. You'll never gonna forget how amped you were for your childhood favorites, the merch you bought, the halloweens you dressed up as them etc

Angle is better category by category but at no point I was never a stan for Ange, that's what makes it such a hard pick

Also for Hitman, his best angle - Canadian America Hating Bret >>>> any angle Kurtis was ever in

But then Angle was 1000X more entertaining on the mic...

I really wanna call it a straight draw

I don't mean lasted as in "he'd get fired", but if he came in as that early-to-mid 90's face Bret, I just think the crowd would have been pretty apathetic. Great technically, but what else is there? Benoit came in as a heel so he got some reaction, but his promo skills were ass. Malenko was a prime example. Put on some great matches (that Backlash 2000 match against Scotty 2 Hotty was :lawd:) but ain't no way he was getting major reactions unless he put Lita in that Texas Cloverleaf.

Bret would have lasted in the Attitude Era, no doubt about it - but not with the persona he had going for him. He'd have had to alter and improve on a lot of shyt, imo
