They have said worse over the years.

It's not funny but the joke wasn't race related. I remember them going at Dakota Fanning and Haley Joel Oslett (sp?) and other child actors in the past.

It's just not funny but nothing to get upset over, and the joke was to point out how sweet and cute she is.

People who took this racially or are trying to make an outrage over this are the c*nts, IMO.

Of course. I just think this is an unnecessary risk.

Proof.

And why not get upset? It'd be just as bad if it happened to Dakota Fanning (which it didn't). That word shouldn't be used for 9 yr. olds, joke or not.

Not to mention the little girl was getting disrespected the whole night. From reporters refusing to call her her real name and "Annie" instead, to Seth sexualizing her with the Clooney joke. Should've been the biggest night of her life and she was the butt of jokes for the majority of it.

I understand the disbelief over the "outrage", but I think it's warranted. I wouldn't say dude who wrote it should get fired, but The Onion knew it was wrong because they didn't even stand behind it, but deleted it.

They though, it was years ago, but they did.

they deleted it because of all the fake outrage.

They weren't literally calling her a c*nt. That's why it's called a joke. c*nt being the polar opposite of what she was (everyone thought she was adorable).

She was the butt of the jokes for the majority of the oscars? :stopitslime: you're being absolutely ridiculous. Seth is a pedophile too I guess?

Majority of HER night.

Soon as she stepped on the red carpet a reporter made fun of her name.

“My name is not Annie. It’s Quvenzhané.” -Quvenzhané Wallis, correcting the AP Reporter who said she was just going to call her Annie

So that's like what, 5 minutes out of 24 hours?

The reporter didn't make fun of her name, the reporter was probably joking because of the difficulty in pronouncing it.

I'm sure that really really hurt her first night at the oscars :rudy:

Lol, was probably joking. You're a reporter ... for the Grammy's ... and you can't pronounce the name of a best actress nominee? Why even be there then? Isn't it your JOB to know that? So it isn't disrespectful to call people out of their name? :ld:

I get it, you think the joke and humiliating kids is funny. That's you. Next. :beli:

lol. I love the selective outrage of people. Some reporter being a retard has nothing to do with anything. You brought it up as if this reporter was torturing this little girl and she'd remember that moment for the rest of her life.

If someone told you their name was kwuhvenjahnay you might jokingly say that in fear of pronouncing it wrong.

I assume either stupidity or a joke and you immediately assume malicious intent.

60 years ago children were working 16 hour shifts in factories and now you can't even make a joke?

I didn't find the joke very funny but it was still a joke. It was a joke because the girl was very sweet and cute. Many jokes are ironic, this being one of them.

That logic ... :dead:

So because kids were treated poorly in the past, they should be susceptible to jokes? Okay dude. I got the irony as well. Just thought the word usage was poor. And it would've came off better in one of their articles, than a tweet.

But let's just agree to disagree at this point.
