I don't consume a lot of R&B outside of the early 2000s so this never occurred to me but it definitely makes sense:jbhmm:

Again when you look at the sonic darkness on Love Below/808s and Drake basically emulating 3K/Ye and the Timbaland/Aaliyah style of dark R&B that Weekend and Frank happened to be doing in the early 2010s yea it lines up:ehh:
It's funny because Prince influenced The Love Below.
He might be the grandfather of black music you wouldn't pigeon hole as exactly R&B

A bunch, I'd say

Ones I can think of off top :

Good kid maad city and to pimp a butterfly

Smino's whole discography

Taboo by denzel

Awaken my love

Nostalgic ultra and Channel orange

Igor and call me if you get lost

Earthgang, jid, and spillage village's whole discography

Really? I always thought it was said that work was influenced by Aquemini? :ohhh:

808s and Heartbreak is the son of The Love Below, sonically and content wise

The dark tone and the confessions of a man struggling with finding/keeping love. The only real difference between the two is The Love Below is optimistic while 808s is cynical

The Love Below influenced 808s, and 808s changed the entire landscape of music. Not to mention the fact that 808s created Drake
I disagree but I’m not mad. Idk why other bra couldn’t explain himself 😭😭

It is too. They're whole discog really

Production is most similar to the sb/lb era to me

But the writing most of all is greatly inspired. Surprised I've never heard anyone compare these two songs before

I have to ask why you consider SB/LB a traditional Outkast album but not idlewild?

I always thought it was funny that Jay-Z stopped Kast from getting the number 1 album twice, but he hopped on this album and they finally had the number one album in the country. Lol
