Toriyama and Kitase run shyt basically with Square now. no way in hell do they hand the series off to anybody else. Ito hasn't really done shyt in an entire console generation. i don't know who your sources are but i'll believe it when its announced. in anything it wouldn't be a reach to say that Versus XIII gets renamed to just plain XV and comes out next year.

Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns is that already. its too late. they're already experimenting with the format. the old turn based style games are gone. XII wasn't really like that and XIII moved further away from it.
