Girls do this at home, eating out, malls, any damn thing really...even driving.I watch TV yet I'm always multitasking and on my cell phone in the Coli....
Wait...is The Coli the culprit here
Being able to watch a whole season of a TV show in a week or even less is a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing in that, obviously, you don't have to wait as long to see how things play out. But it's a curse in that singular episodes no longer matter. You remember the highlights during the season and you remember the end. I've found it muddies the reviews of the overall season. Read each House of Cards thread here and read a Game of Thrones or other weekly show thread. You get very simplistic reviews and opinions on seasons of Netflix shows, but shows where you're waiting a week to watch tend to leave a more indelible mark on your memory and end up being more lasting. Binge watching in any form (DVR, streaming) falls under the same umbrella. When singular episodes aren't getting the full attention they deserve, can a full season really be judged the right way?Elaborate.
smart phones are ruining everything...
I wake up, phone alarm goes off, i grab it, browse sites for 10 minutes before getting up.
Watch tv, have phone in hand.
Ponder a thought, immediately grab phone, google, and have it answer for me
Also I don't take as many pictures as most people, but i literally never took pictures prior to phones and more than 1 is a lot for me. I don't need to stop and say "that cloud looks like a dikk, i should take a pic and share it on twitter with a #clouddikk hashtag
the thing that bothers me most is the gift and curse of having every bit of information ever in my pocket. it's convenient but at the same time, I feel like I'm never gonna think on my own again. used to love having to track down a nugget in my brain, tell people to "let me think, it'll come to me." now i just lose patience and google it most of the time. When I bought my new galaxy, the people at the store transferred all my data for me. The guy got distressed, he said 'oh no, it only transferred about 20 of your pics' Then when I told them that was all I had, they were all confused, like 'wow i've never seen a phone with that few photos'
Having said that, I love my smart phone. And this coming from someone who refused to buy one for years.
It isn't the phones it's the people. You have to make the choice to pick it up or put it down when watching a show/movie. If what you are watching isn't good enough to hold your full attention watch something else. If you choose to pick up your phone to do something else while watching that same show the phone isn't ruining a good show it's letting you put up with a bad one.
I think it only ruins the discussion and anticipation. You notice oitnb threads are never poppin because everyone is at different points. Sometimes there is also regret. Last year i finished s2 in a weekend and was like wtf am i gonna watch next.Being able to watch a whole season of a TV show in a week or even less is a blessing and a curse. I'm a movie lover. Nothing more infuriating than watching a movie with someone and they're on their phone.
....then they have the nerve to ask: "Wait, what, just happened? "
Plus with me, because of netflix, I cant fukk with commercials anymore.Being able to watch a whole season of a TV show in a week or even less is a blessing and a curse.
