That's a big reason why these Phone/Tablet games are taking off so fast. Most older gamers tend to play in short 20-30 min spurts. The best selling consoles games tend to be games you can hop on for a little bit and still feel like you got something accomplished.

Going batshyt crazy running from the cops in GTA for a half hour.

Now everyone can load up a game of Angry Birds for 15 minutes on their phone while waiting for a train. Kind of crazy how gaming trends change as our generation gets older. Makes you wonder how things will be when we're in our 50's.

I don't even bother with single player campaigns anymore. Only games I've beat to completion in the past 6 years are gears 1 and red dead. Had portal 1 looking at me for a few years like

I'm starting to think getting old is the culprit. I'm 25 and been gaming since I was 9 years old.

9 yrs to teenage years I was beasting on the hardest video games trying to 100% them shyts.

After graduation I gradually started getting lazy with video games. I don't try to get records, I started getting picky with games storylines, and if the game is giving me a hard time I put it on the easiest difficulty.

The only current gen games I've really tried my best on so far was the ME games (ME2 actually), inFamous series, and the Uncharted series.

I think the next one is going to be GTAV.

I restarted my gamefly sub so I got MP3 coming, Batman AC and AC3... Let see how those go

I'll finish the story portion of a game, but doing all that extra stuff and trying to get all trophies is pointless to me. at Batman saying now I can try to get these Riddler trophies after finishing off Joker in Arkham City.

What I tend to do is cop a game, play half-way to 2/3rd's of the way through the story/campaign and then put it down and pick something else up. I get bored with most games after a while and just need a break. What ends up happening though is that after a while, I'll play a bunch of other games in similar fashion and then go back to the game and finish it off. So I finish games, but it can be a full year before that goes down.

Games that tend to have their multi-player as the main selling point seem to be getting shorter. Some single player games are getting shorter though, so they can release DLC to extend the life of the game (make more money off you).

Another thing that kind of killed it for me is piracy. I had a modded 360 and started getting games just to have them. I don't value free games the way I would have if I paid for it. That 360 has since red lighted, so I stopped bothering. Now that i'm a PC gamer, I've been eating well off of those steam sales though.
