It's good every now and then and even then I still advice going to lift at like 50%-70% of your regular numbers and just work on form.

The break isn't so much a bad thing but the break in habit is.

2 weeks where you bench 150 instead of your regular 250 is better than 2 weeks of nothing. Even when injured I say just get in and ride a bike or something.

I'm taking a break until after Thanksgiving. I'll still try to do cardio at least 2-3 days next week (maybe more if my sister wants to go for a run in the park).

I don't like to take more than 7-10 days off from the gym because I find it takes longer to get the momentum going again.

This. For me it's less about the gains but more about the routine and staying comitted to a goal.

Meh fukk that shyt, ive probably been working out longer then most people here, 10 years, and ive taken months off :yeshrug:

All the that matters is that everyday you dont work out, it pains you that you cant. As long as you have that internal desire to get back in the gym youll be aight. Just because youre not working out doesnt mean your body will undo itself overnight. If youre truly committed to being fit, then your diet, wont let you turn into a slug.

Also "gains" can easily be made again. Plus im also of the belief that most people workout too much, so they limit their gains. A lot of my gains in size and strength, when i was stuck at a plateau, came after i had an extensive break.....

The rest days are a must but I'm talking about a stretch of days where you're not doing anything. For example at the end of August/start of September I was told by my doctor to take a break from lifting to avoid abdominal pressure (I had a hemorrhoid that hemorrhaged), so for about 2 weeks I did absolutely nothing.
How's your a$$hole now? :dame:

Currently been on a 4 week break. Since it fell on the holidays I did gain about 8 lbs. which makes sense, I probably consumed about my maintenance in calories enjoying family and relaxing but without the exercise i would usually burn a good 600 calories a day.

I think it’s gonna pay off though. I was bored with my routine, stalling out, back pain, just felt lost. I imagine I’ve lost a good bit of strength but I should get it back pretty quick

I think it's better just to switch it up and not always lift heavy or lift weights. Do calisthenics for a month. Lift lighter and do more reps. Take a week or two off periodically from everything. Gotta remember you only have one body, too much wear and tear/injury chances and you not an athlete or getting paid for training. One bad back injury and you're walking/sitting different for life.

Which is why I never feel guilty about working out at home light for a week or two with dumbbells and calisthenics.

Then it's back to beasting. :birdman:
