You're assuming that the team who wants him will have the cap space to outright sign him as a FA, which the Lakers won't have unless he takes less money. There's a few reasons why Kyrie keeps saying to trade him and not him walking away as a FA.

Someone like Philly should be worried about losing Harden for nothing as the team he's been linked to (Houston) has the bread to outright sign him as a FA, which is what happened with Brunson and his preferred destination.
