Those 2 picks aren't just any picks given the circumstances (Bron age, AD health). There's a strong chance they will be top lottery picks. Just like in 2013 when two future picks from the Pierce-KG-Deron Williams Brooklyn Nets were way more valuable.
so we're banking on the Lakers being mid to trash for the rest of the decade?

Even the Nets picks weren't expected to be high picks. They became such when they fell apart and Deron Williams got fat

Yes those Nets picks were expected to be high. D-Will had injury history and the other core pieces were in their mid-to-late 30s.

the injuries didn't pile up until the trade happened, but bad play also did Deron in more than anything. They still had Deron Williams,. Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez. They didn't expect those picks to become lotto picks.

You're right, the Nets didn't expect that and/or were willing to risk it for the win-now move. My point is just dismissing a trade based on the number of picks involved is flawed. You also have to take into account how high they could potentially become. The main critique of that 2013 Nets-Celtics trade was that those could easily become top lottery picks, which they did.

Honestly really interested in seeing how this works with Luka … more so for the long term implications on Luka as a player …can he play alongside other volume scorers ir is he only effective as a ball dominator and can you win on the biggest stage with that approach …this will be a really interesting 30 games

I love when a trade happens & half the justification of it not being that bad is cap space that doesn't even really exist unless that team just straight up loses 2/3 of their team for nothing in return :pachaha:

Kyrie just walking doesn't just magically open up a max slot for the Mavs
To get max money, Kyrie will need to sign with the Mavs. Whether that's to stay with them or to manufacture a sign and trade, he can't just walk if he wants full max money

Even if he doesn't stay, the Mavs should be getting some type of assets in return

This.....Cuban wants to clear the deck. If Kyrie works, fine....but if not, they got enough money to buy a contender.
This would be a good plan but Mavs have never signed a big name, they struggled during to sign one during the Dirk era, maybe Luka can convince someone to come.
