There’s so much ignorance in this thread. First the barb wire is an inhumane technique that is literally meant to damage, hurt and as we have seen even kill those who cross it. The tactic in itself is inhumane, inefficient, and disastrous on multiple fronts.

Secondly the border isn’t open. You can’t just cross from Mexico to Texas all Willy nilly there are multiple check points and crossings. Those who said it’s an open border are just repeating white supremacist talking points.

Third, if you really want to fix immigration you should probably look at the American policies that are driving these boarder crossings. It’s all economics however it’s the United States foreign policies that are causing these issues. Venezuelans are starving due to the United States pushing a Western world trade embargo over Former leader Hugo Chavez (Rip) and current leader Nicholas Meduro. The United States has been interfering in the lives of Venezuelans for decades due to its size and oil reserves. The United States is absolutely battering their economy. People are getting mad at the people who are suffering from United States foreign policies. That’s so fukked up.

Fourth if the Republicans really do care about the border situation they would do an exchange with Biden in which Republicans gain more troops at the border in exchange for the Job and Humanitarian applications to be expedited. You would be able to allow these immigrants to work while protecting the border but republicans refuse to do this because it would take away their biggest scare tactics which includes:

Over exaggerated Crime fearing, White replacement theories ideology and The fear of a browning America.
