Still trying to wrap my mind around this. Recruiting is the thing that I am concerned about. Your new college landscape involves recruiting not only future players, but your current ones as well. Beli doesn't strike me as the type willing to relish having to deal with that on a regular basis. Even if he initially attracts a lot of high level recruits, he is eventually going to have to convince them to stay long term.

He's got to do some type of recruiting tho, at least to the top prospects. Break them off a phone call or something. He did post game press for decades, but now he's got to do that plus alumni dinners and fundraisers, mingle and shake hands with heavyweight boosters, give motivational speeches everywhere, talk glowingly about the school, keep players from hitting the portal, NIL, etc. He can't hide out and not say anything like he did at New England. This is a different animal
10-20 years ago this would hold weight. With kids getting paid outright and jumping in the portal at will his or any coach's status doesn't matter. And apparently he knows this by outlining a separate recruiting staff.It's bill Belichick

From reading reports this is all about him taking care of his kids and setting them up.
The idea that the NFL has passed him by is silly. The best HC hire this year in the NFL has been John Harbaugh, who's more old school than any of the other first year coaches. All of the other first year coaches have been terrible besides Harbaugh. McDonald has been decent but all the other hires we all know are going to end sooner rather than later.
