He was their head coach from 2001-2011, taking them to 6 bowl games & a #12 ranking in 2006 during that time, with an overall record of 68-67 during that time. He left to coach the Tampa Bay Bucs, then spent time as the defensive coordinator/assistant head coach at Ohio State.
I think it's a good hire He was a good recruiter at Ohio State, bags notwithstanding. He was a good recruiter at Rutgers during his first stint & did a good job coaching them, producing NFL players & getting wins in the loaded (at the time) Big East. If he can secure the New Jersey borders & get the athletes to stay home, he could do really well in Piscataway. He just has to make a good OC hire.
