well maybe now this will teach teams & players to take the regular season seriously from the get go so they'd have their playoff spot secured & not in danger

Teams were going to be left outside looking in no matter how hard they played, there's only so many slots

All this does is expose fans who downplayed the importance of an 82 game season ("too many games") or griped about too many teams being able to qualify... now all of a sudden it's a big deal who the Lakers, Bucks, and Clippers wash in the first round

Play in tournament, group stage, straight to the playoffs... all them bottom feeders gon be an after-thought by round 2, no matter what gimmick they use


Only relevant decision is how they structure the top 16 bracket.. bc that directly affects the path of the good teams.

That’s IF they even finish this season. Remember baseball players and owners had originally agreed to the prorated salary format before the owners changed it up at the last minute. What’s not to say that NBA owners won’t try it now or before the start of next season.

I just don’t see the point in starting in August. I understand the league is dealing with a lot of red tape and they’re trying their best to ensure the safety of their players but every week it seems like the rumored start date is being pushed back further and further.

I believe they should just cut their losses and cancel the season but if they’re determined to start the season they should have had things in motion for an early July date. The premier league has tested 1,000 players four different times and are gearing up for a June 17 start while the NBA is still debating if they’re gonna finish the regular season or go straight to the playoffs.

It's either take that temporary paycut or take a permanent one due to the details of their TV contract. NBAPA weighed and balanced it and decided finishing the season would be more lucrative
