Tony Romo
gets alot of criticism.
1. Romo plays in Dallas aka "America's Team" a team that always has the microscope on it. You only hear about Philly when they are good or there is controversy.
2. Romo has had TO, Austin, Dez, and Witten over the course of his career. McNabb had TO for a year and a half and spent the majority of his time in Philly with the likes of Pinkston, Thrash, and Mitchell.
3. Romo is criticized for having only 1 playoff victory in 6 seasons despite having all those weapons. McNabb is criticized for not single-handedly carrying his team to an SB victory.
Other than that I don't see any differences.
you're comparing apples and oranges...McNabb career wise is far more successful than Garcia, no one is arguing that.
But in 2007 McNabb had a record of 5-5 and Garcia with a record of 6-3 (the first loss was a game he came in when McNabb started, the second loss was to Indy, and the third loss was in the Playoffs). The Eagles were like 1-4 in the last 5 games with McNabb until his injury. As soon as garcia steps in they lose against Indy (the best team in the league) and win 6 games in a row. it's no conisidence. Also keep in mind that the only reason the Eagles lost to the Saints that year was due to the D-Line's inability to stop the run in the 4th quarter. If Garcia had the opportunity, they would have won that game.
Philly fans loved McNabb, he carried that team dolo on his back until Westbrook took some of the pressure off of him. But Garcia clearly showed that there was a sharp fundamental contrast in their leadership and passing skills. That's not saying Garcia was better--but it just went to show you what mcNabb was missing, especially when he abandoned his scrambling/running game. Anyone who looks at that season and knows it, will remember it well.
First of let me say that Donovan fukked himself when he tried to turn himself into drop back passer. That said Philly, like it always did when McNabb was hurt, committed to the run more and had a more balanced attack when McNabb went out. Remember when they went on that win streak in 03 I believe it was with AJ Feeley? For whatever reason Andy never tried that with Donovan despite the success that he had doing it with lesser guys. Beyond that Donovan looked pretty good 3 years later when they got back to the title game and he did everything in his power to get them to the SB.
