Exactly. It's like with a lot of people in this thread and their selective outrage. Like, it's fair to criticize Biden for lying about pardoning his son (among other things), but all of the selective outrage here just undermines their argument. The same people doing this remained silent when Trump blatantly abused the pardon system to help his friends, donors, and political allies, or when he routinely lied to the public. They excused such behavior by claiming it’s "expected" from Republicans, which only normalizes their corruption, and paves the way for even worse actions.

By holding Democrats to a higher standard while dismissing Republican misconduct as typical, they're effectively enabling the very behavior they claim to oppose. It's a cop out, really. It helps them avoid criticizing something they secretly like. You can't claim you're for accountability when you are only holding one side to a consistent ethical standard. Doing that makes it look more like you're weaponizing outrage to score partisan points. Accepting hypocrisy because that's "just how they are" is how we got here in the first place.

A felon getting a pardon is not ground breaking precedent. It's that his father did it. Pardons are not meant for only innocent people. They are supposed to be merit based even for the guilty.
