Don't really know how to take it...
On the one hand I view it as white people trying to change history and not talk about all the evil shyt they have done...
On the other hand Texas has changed so much in say the last few years I wouldn't be shocked if some of these parents are preaching "togetherness" and sort of forced the school districts to "not" teach very much about slavery...
What the media didn't tell you about McKinney is that the real reason that shyt got cleaned up so quick is that all those rich parents in that district was about to yank their kids out of Mckineey school districts...
You talking MILLIONS of dollars being yanked out of an afluent place...
And honestly...a kid isn't really going to "get" slavery...
I think it's a farce to start with teaching it to "kids"
I think the entire point of teaching it to "kids" is because it's probably going one ear out the other while they wait for recess...

Kids also have a very short attention span...
If you think for one second a "kid" of any race is going to really "learn" about slavery at the age of 8 or 9 then you are fooling yourself...
That is the entire point of teaching it to them at 8 or 9...because they have so much other stuff to learn it is probably going to get lost in the shuffle...
vs rather teaching it to a high school senior he is about to go to college or look for a job or actually start their life so they are going to be way more receptive to paying attention

The Koch brothers are going to Ivy League schools discussing curriculum changes. You'd be crazy to think colleges are any different when it comes to cacs rewriting history.

If I was them, I'd fight to remove the fact the Civil War was over slavery. Jim Crow, land theft, genocide, centuries of unjust laws, inherent racism baked into the Constitution, KKK and all the rest. People always get madder over the truth than a lie.
But most people don't take history seriously anyways so it's not like they'd have the knowledge to see they're being led further into the desert.
