Black American athletes ran MLB from damn near since they were allowed to play in the league up until probably the early 2000s. I know there has been some effort in trying to get young Black kids in this country back into baseball but there has to be something that would gain more traction. I think a big part of why young Black athletes don't get into the sport is because MLB doesn't market their top athletes well. Most kids would walk right by most of the Top MLB players if they walked by them in the street. Can't say that about NBA and NFL stars, especially NBA.

10 years 700 million is asinine. He’s not even healthy enough to pitch next season. Teams just will not learn. Handing out these outrageous long term deals just does not translate to wins for these franchises. Trout, Harper, Turner, Rendon, Strasburg, Judge, Machado, Bogaerts, Cole, Betts, Seager.

How? Being "priced out" wasn't the issue in the 90s and early 2000s. What happened where poor kids in the Dominican Republic and other third world Latin countries in South America still can come up playing the sport and make it to MLB but Black kids in this country can't?

Hayward ain’t even on the list of top paid guys over the years. His contract was too big for his impact but not outrageous. Over the years, the vast majority of guys who get the outrageous deals do not win during the contract. Good for Rangers & Seager. The Orioles won 100 games last season and Ohtani will make more annually than their entire 2023 payroll.
