Halos fans have to be tight right about now. Not only do they see him walk for nothing, they're seeing him go to a geographical "rival". Bringing it personally closer to home, that'd be kind of like Lamar Jackson signing with the Commanders this past offseason. I couldn't even....

High key, glad he won't be in the ALE. Not sure how well that contract's gonna age on the back end, though.
I think with ohtani either the hitting OR the pitching will go, but not both. So I think the back end of that contract will be fine. Not to mention the international appeal and attention to the dodgers.

Black American athletes ran MLB from damn near since they were allowed to play in the league up until probably the early 2000s. I know there has been some effort in trying to get young Black kids in this country back into baseball but there has to be something that would gain more traction. I think a big part of why young Black athletes don't get into the sport is because MLB doesn't market their top athletes well. Most kids would walk right by most of the Top MLB players if they walked by them in the street. Can't say that about NBA and NFL stars, especially NBA.
Black Americans made baseball relevant. We all know about the past. Now for moving forward…MLB actively avoid promoting the game to black americans
They barely promote the game to Haitians on the same island as DR.

The only sport left for the streets is football, everything else coming with more and more barriers

Forget the marketability. Yes that means something, but there’s a lot of stars in that league. Baseball just isn’t gonna highlight you at the expense of the team you play for. Aaron Judge runs NY, but he’s a Yankee at the end of the day and that’s the big selling point. Thats why Ohtani and Trout MLB wanted the Angels to do well. In basketball we don’t care how your team does as long as you cook.

Crazy thing is the pressure that comes might be wild. Unless son bats .400 and wins multiple world series mvps, mvsp he is gonna be criticized.

Lol I know I'm getting old and sentimental because I could give a shyt about the money because some rich cock sucker can pay that bill just fine and make 10x back off the back if Ohtani and the Dodger name.

I don't care if the contract "ages" well. The easiest thing to do after someone signs is say "let's see it at the end" :smugfavre: like they are breaking a new sports hot take. He earned the money. In baseball you get paid off mostly what you've done and in hopes you can keep doing it. Ohtani has been one of the most fun athletes to watch and follow over all sports but has definitely made baseball more interesting again. I'm just hoping he continues to be legendary and can stay healthy because unless you're cutting the check, enjoy the Sho(w) :blessed:
