So what was the point in doing all this to look tough?

They are clearly just sending a message the bases can be touched and they are not afraid to let them thangs fly. If they wanted to level the base they easily could.

This will be a cold/ proxy war for years to come. That's the real issue. Lives will be lost but you wont be able to draw a straight line back to Iran even though they will be responsible. Nobody gonna be safe in the region for a long time.

We haven't gone to war with them because there's been no reason to.....even now.

This is just 'Saber rattling', IMO, and the US's 'saber' is unimaginably large and powerful. Iran would have to get assistance from it's allies to do anything substantial against US forces.​
