The GOP has 5 sub-divisions within its party:
1) the Never-Trumpers. Mike Steele, Mitt Romney, George Conway. These are the most liberal type and the most centrists of the party. They dont fukk with anti intellectualism and hate anything that Trump does. Even as far as endorsing Democrats and funding Democratic campaigns. "The Lincoln Project" is a prime example.
2) the standard GOP voter that hates Trump as a person, but endorse his policies. Similar to how many Dems hate Hillary Clinton as a person, but vote for her just cause she is a typical establishment Dem, the same goes for the GOP and Trump. Makes up a huge bulk of the 74 million votes in 2020.
3) The Proud Boys. They are open white supremacists that are bytchmade and cowards. Only loud in groups. Catch them by themselves, they are food and even would snitch if any kind of law enforcement presses on them. Easy to infiltrate their organization since they dont fight back. Made up only a fraction of the 1/6 Insurrection. MAGA supporters, but again, will betray them for their own well being.
4) Open white supremacists. The ones that walk the walk, not just talk the talk. They cop guns out the ass and dont mind doing hard time in federal prison for their cause of maintaining white domination. They often are in secluded white communities in the South and Midwest and almost never associate with non-white people. Gun nuts that train extenaively in warfare and often have military experience. Made up the most people in the 1/6 insurrection. MAGAts to the core and will shoot off their face to spite their noses.
5) Q-Anon supporters. No hope for them. Just cultists and delusional CACs that most likely will commit suicide in a few months when the sudden hard truth that Trump will not come back for them.

But the insurrection didn't really accomplish anything. You'd think if a large group stormed the capitol that more damage would be done. But only 5 people died from the whole thing.
Disagree. The coup accomplished a lot. Unsuccessful coups tend to have additional attempts when the state doesn't come down hard enough on it. This is what is happening here.
It's a rallying point and shows what was possible with better luck and better planning. It was successful in showing the vulnerability of the US state.
