They're still our (close) ally, they're still trade partners. But just a couple years ago we were talking about China aggression towards Japan, the fake island disputes, etc. China was driving Japan even further to us and even forced them to finally start getting more serious about military spending. Now we're spitting on Japan for no logical reason and China is there to make amends lol. Just wild.
